I'm seriously thinking about selling my 2001 740i w/ Dinan package (See my signature for details, incl. the badge, worth approx. $5K) and 85K miles. It is in excellent condition and has extended warranty up to 144K miles or 2010, whichever comes first. I'm thinking about getting a M5... Let me know if you are interested. Email me if you want to take this off the forum. Thanks.

I know you've been thinking about selling your Dinan 7 since Jan 07.
Don't know your reasons, but if it's maintenance that your worried about,
sorry but your gonna spend same between the two. Same parts between
the two engines/price. Now if it's gas, your looking to save,
sorry but your gonna be spending the same again between the the two
unless your just heavy on the foot with your Dinan. Your up in D.C.
so I know you can't open her up too much. Bottom line keep your 7
instead of getting a 540i. Over time your E38 with the Dinan package
will be sought after by enthusiast over a baby E39 540i

I agree with this EXCEPT that the OP mentioned an M5 (let's assume an E39) and not "just" a 540i...

I considered trading my 745i in for a new M5 but after the test drive I decided against the trade. Not that the M5 was a bad car but it was just so powerful and quick I knew it would land me in trouble. I guess if my 745i had a few more ponies I would be happy but then again I test drove a 750i too and it didnt seem that much quicker than my current car.

Alpina B7. For a mere $120000...
