I think the contacts may need to be cleaned or something, but all 4 windows and sunroof work great (strong/solid motors), however sometimes I have to push the buttons 5-10 times before the window or sunroof moves. Other times I push the window button well beyond the resistance point but it only moves while I hold the button... not the full 1-touch up or down... then if I push it a couple more times, the full movement kicks in.

Just wondering what causes this? I'd like for it to work right everytime... am I asking for too much? Is it something that needs reset? is it a define switch issue?

My benz has the same 1-touch for the windows and they work every single time I push them.. the resistance point is very obvious, but with the bimmer switches that resistance point seems less obvious. I know I'm pushing plenty hard on the switch, sometimes it simply doesn't realize it should move...

thx! scott

How old is this BMW that you have? You might just take off the assembly, Of course disconnect the battery first, then clean the switch etc. I dont believe its hard to get at..

"5-10 times" is way too much for normal operation, for sure.

On my '99 750 with 106K miles, I have not experienced this symptom for the 50,000 miles I've owned it.

You can try cleaning the switches, once you get the door panel (or sunroof control panel) off. Or simply replace the switches.

The sunroof one is very easy to replace although be careful when removing the trim cover -- the plastic tabs that keep it up above your head are likely to break when you remove it. I krazy glued the tabs back and all is well but don't be surprised if you find a few tabs raining down on you. If I remember correctly, you should remove the lights first, then slide the panel forward, then down. If you try to simply pull the panel down first, you'll break some tabs for sure.
