Can anyone confirm if E39 fronts seats and E38 front seats are compatible?

I.e. size, fittings, connections, etc.

Reason for asking is that I am looking to go from standard electric seats to full comfort spec ones.

If the two are the same I have a much greater chance of locating suitable seats (black).

Any help appreciated.

If you use the online parts database (www.realoem.com)...you can look up the seat part nbrs...there's also a part cross reference link that will allow you to see how many other BMW models use that same parr number.

I didn't know if you wanted cloth or leather seats...us YANKS have an affinity to leather seating surfaces...wereas we've been told that Europeans prefer cloth. I chose to look up the comfort seats for the 728i then copied and pasted that info in the cross reference and came up with this info: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=52100023158&showeur=on

If you click on the links that say "Details On E38" or "Details on E39" it will take you to all the models in that series...and more links that will take you directly to the diagram and part nbr index for that item & model

You can do the same for the seat rail diagram and see if they are the same, too.

Good luck. :)
