CW6er 08-02-2007, 03:23 AM Are you saying you want to restore or add the original SLS (Self Leveling Suspension) to your sixer? detroit635csi 08-02-2007, 07:34 AM :confusedi think he means airbags....? thats real OG sonnn worrrrddddddd:grenade Makr 08-02-2007, 07:57 AM good luck with that Lavalamp 08-02-2007, 08:14 PM yes i do mean airbags. and i know the general consensus is to not do it, but... the car right now is on stock shocks with lowering springs. i like how low it sits but it seriously scrapes everywhere as is. and since stock shocks aren't good w/ lowering springs i'm gonna need new shocks anyways and i might even get new springs. so why not get airbags so i can ride around low and just boost it up for speed bumps etc? my friend had airbags on his GTI and he said they handled as good as his coilovers if not better. e24mpwr 08-02-2007, 08:33 PM Your best bet is to go with mixed duty shocks and springs at (or closer to) stock ride height. Doubt anything else would be worth the investment. An E24 isn't a car you slam. 84E24 08-06-2007, 10:55 AM Air bags arent always used just to slam a car. Air bags usually get a bad rap because that is all people ever see of them mostly. Ive seen a bunch of shops and companies that install custom air bag systems on race tuned cars and for other people who want a nice ride but sporty, tight handling as well. Ive heard that most of these set ups have better handling than coil overs by far, especially on older cars. I dont know of the price but I would be interested to see if someone has made a kit of the 6. 84E24 08-06-2007, 01:58 PM A lot of the custom setups actually have sensors connected to the controls arms in the front and also has some sensors in the rear. They connect to a brain that tells the compressor how much pressure/inflation each bag needs as the arms move. Its supposed to be really really comfy and it can be changed from agressive to soft in only a few seconds. |
