View Full Version : Okay to put S100 on 2 hours after 2nd coat of Klasse Sealant?

Tonight I'm washing and claying my car. Tomorrow morning I'll be applying Klasse AIO and one coat of Klasse Sealant. I'm going to let the Sealant cure for 24 hours then reapply another coat the following morning.

This leads to my question. I want to apply a coat of S100 wax over the 2nd coat of Klasse Sealant. Can I do this the same day I apply the Klasse, or should I wait until the following day?

Also, do I need to tape off my bumpers/trim/headlights prior to doing all this? Or will being extra careful be enough?

Thanks!

I'd probably wait a bit longer for it to cure to be on the safe side... I've never topped with anything other than more acrylic sealant, but I wait to do that...

I've only done a few cars with Klasse AIO (followed up with Werkstatt AJT rather then SG though) and I never bothered to tape everything up. It couldn't hurt and I'd actually planned on doing it, but couldn't find the painters tape at my parents' place.

Taping is totally up to your preferrence. IF you don't mind spending and extra 20 min cleaning up behind yourself, then don't tape.

As far as the SG goes, I have never used it... Heard it was a bitch to remove in humid climates and I am in FL...

I'd wait another 18 to 24 hours after applying the SG before topping with S100.

What I would do is apply the AIO and SG one weekend. Then the next weekend, I'd wash the car again and apply S100.

As far as taping it off, I wouldn't bother. Just don't get the S100 on the black parts. Since you're just going for beauty here, you don't have to get that cloase to the black parts.

SG can, indeed, be hard to remove if you follow the instructions on the bottle. Don't let it dry or haze up. Just wipe on, wipe off. Worked for me, but the stuff can be a PITA.

My most recent routine went like this: My car's paint is in very good shape, so I didn't use clay. I washed it, dried it and applied Klasse AIO with a UDM buffer. Looked great. Did the SG thing, which made it look a bit better, but I didn't think the SG was the end-all, be-all. So I did a coat of carnauba by hand. Didn't think the car could get any better than that, and I was happy.

Enter Optimum Opti-Seal. I read about this stuff on another forum and thought I'd give it a try. Whoa.

Don't put much on at a time. If you see any streaking, you're using too much. Spread it on thinly, on one panel, and walk away. At this point, you won't be impressed. Come back in a couple of hours and have another look. It takes some time for it to cure, or bond, or whatever, but I was happily surprised at the difference.

I don't sell the stuff or have any connection with them, but tomorrow morning I'll do the rest of the car with it. It's pricey, but you use so little of it that a bottle will last forever. I've heard that several coats, 24 hours apart, just make it better.

Anybody else?

I apply 3 coats of SG over a period of a few weeks and immediately wipe on/wipe off. I've never had any issues with it being a pain to remove.

+1 the wipe on wipe off method is the way i do it as well
I honestly dont even give the sg coats more than 20 minutes cure before topping with s100- I never get streaking. This is due to the WOWO method- the coats of sg go on alot thinner, i suppose, and need less cure time. Either way the finish always comes out great and is very durable. I normally do 2-3 coats of SG and then do 3-4 coats of s100 :D
