I was in Harbor Frieght tools yesterday and I saw a hand sewing awl.. It seems that if you took the headliner out of the car you might be able to push top up and use a black bonded nylon thread and hand stitch the top back by putting point of awl in same holes of missing stitches? Has any one tried this? It would be time consuming but 1. You would still have a factory top. and 2. if you used the bonded nylon it would last longer than me. That is what i used to recover my boat interior. But what size thread would you use. i useded a #69 on the boat. This stuff is stronger than wire!!!!:confused

That sounds like a cool idea, there is a trim shop in OKC where you can buy material and misc supplies for this type of stuff.
Hmmmmm, that just might work. I have several spots on my top where the thread has disappeared and left thread holes. Is this your problem too?

Yes, I still have the original 94 top but the fabric is in great shape just a lot of missing thread. If they used bonded nylon it would last for a long time. But then again a lot of people would be out of work. after market tops, installers. I don't understand why you would use such a durable fabric and a weak thread to hold it together!!!:eyecrazy
