I think it looks pretty decent
tvij122 08-01-2007, 01:49 PM sorry about the sizing
95325i 08-02-2007, 05:41 PM Did you put the window in your self? I have to do replace my window in the next few weeks.
wsmc831 08-02-2007, 06:15 PM not difficult, emiata guy is extremely good to deal with.
tvij122 08-02-2007, 06:33 PM yea i put it in myself, as wsmc831 said, its not too hard at all...The emiata guy has decent instructions that will get you through the install without much of a hitch.
Mr CrEEP 08-02-2007, 11:48 PM Good Job. did you use the butter knife?
robmpulse 08-03-2007, 09:26 AM how is that window held in place?
Cavi Mike 08-03-2007, 10:16 AM Zipper.
tvij122 08-03-2007, 10:57 AM no, i didnt use the butter knife. My rubber trim was already peeling so it came right off with a little tugging... and the window is held in placed with a zipper and the outer seal is glued to the fabric of the top with contact cement
azngenius35 08-05-2007, 10:56 PM how long did the whole process take you??
tvij122 08-05-2007, 11:49 PM I got the window out in 10 minutes. It wasnt to difficult to get the new window in. The alignment took me the most time. It took about 45 minutes to get the window straight without having wrinkles in it. the gluing took another 15. So about an hour and 10 mins for the whole job.
wsmc831 08-06-2007, 01:17 PM ..just be careful putting the new one in. the old one would have stretched, and if you are out of alignment much you could rip the stitching off the zipper sewn into the top.
I did..not hard to stitch back, just a word of caution. Take your time.
williamm3 08-06-2007, 01:49 PM Does the emiata window only come with that black canvas outside seal? That does not look factory.
tvij122 08-06-2007, 02:47 PM Yes, it only comes with the canvas, I heard somewhere he used to have the rubber factory seal but then there was a lawsuit so he had to change it
Brashland 08-06-2007, 07:27 PM Wow, my window is good but the rubber seal is coming off an it looks GHETTO. Instead of trying 100's of different adhesives, I may just have to do the new window as it comes with the canvas trim.
williamm3 08-07-2007, 07:19 PM Thanks tvij122.
DucatiBoy 08-07-2007, 07:46 PM I don't mean to be picky or be off topic, but there are 4 little points on the drivers side "c" pillar, what are those. I saw those on another convertible in the same place. Do you know what those are from and how to fix it or keep it from happening on a new top?
tvij122 08-07-2007, 08:28 PM no problem willliamm3, and Ducatiboy, I mnot sure what these are, i think theyre just points where the convertible contraptions rubbed on the fabric and made 4 holes. Apparently, it is not unique to my top. i think people call them "snake bites" But i wouldnt know how to prevent them, sorry
robertalanbmw 09-15-2007, 01:29 AM i installed a Emiata top and regret it. The factory plastic seal is much better, no glue, looks better. Faster install.
Is there anyway to replace that factory seal? Can you just glue a new one in?
Brashland 09-17-2007, 11:02 AM i installed a Emiata top and regret it. The factory plastic seal is much better, no glue, looks better. Faster install.
...and the difference of twice the price. If you have $300 to spend then of course going OEM is better.
Brashland 09-17-2007, 11:03 AM Is there anyway to replace that factory seal? Can you just glue a new one in?
If you figure out a way let me know. Mine is slowly cracking and coming off and I've used literally about 5 different types of industrial adhesives to keep it on with no luck.
RobHacker 09-17-2007, 05:47 PM Looks nice..but that screwdriver on the back deck is giving me the heebie jeebies!
I hope it didn't scratch...
tvij122 12-17-2007, 08:24 PM haha, i was very careful, no scratches
