This may seem like a dumb question, but other than color preference, what is the advantage between the Jet Black and Black Saphire Metalic? Why are so many 335i owners going saph rather than jet black?

I like my BS (LOL) since it in really bright sun it looks a very dark grey. mryakan 08-01-2007, 01:29 PM Basically metallic paint adds some depth and will hide flaws a LITTLE better. I like my BS (LOL) since it in really bright sun it looks a very dark grey. A lot of us like your BS, although sometimes it is too radiant. I'm talking about the paint of course ;). Long live BG's BS:bs :D. bspaceman 08-01-2007, 01:43 PM thanks guys. I was sort of thinking that. I am getting mine in JB and it seemed like the "thing" was to get the Bk Saph Met.. Even when i specified what color I wanted the salesguy asked me "you mean Saph Met.?" and I said "no JB". I feel better now. I like deep black cars and have had them before, so I know the hardship i am up against but i also know how great they look when they are clean! Cheers! mryakan 08-01-2007, 01:53 PM thanks guys. Cheers! +1, I keep dusting it off all the time (w/soft mitt) but can't keep it clean for long, however it look great when washed. And honestly, unless you are close to the car, you can't see the diff unless really dirty. Also some of the black dirt (e.g. that tire shine material that flies off the tires after applying it) doesn't show, it used to look aweful all over my red ti. When it is slightly dusty, it looks like BS too ;). Beer Goggles 08-01-2007, 02:13 PM It's all BS... But unless you're in direct sun you can't tell the difference between the two colors. mryakan 08-01-2007, 02:57 PM It's all BS... Beer Goggles 08-01-2007, 03:18 PM Looks black, unless it's in direct sun and you're staring at the light spot. Babagnush 08-01-2007, 05:17 PM No matter which one ya get, don't ever take it to a car wash. mryakan 08-01-2007, 05:51 PM No matter which one ya get, don't ever take it to a car wash. Why? brokenbimmer 08-01-2007, 07:21 PM The advantage is $475 for Jet Black. mryakan 08-01-2007, 11:43 PM The advantage is $475 for Jet Black. savings you mean. It is 800$ Canadian for metallic colors here, which is 700$ US. Ouch! FrenzyRider 08-01-2007, 11:52 PM BS looks more classy to me than the JB. Your chances of seeing orange peel is prolly more in JB. *shrugs* Antwerp Ace 08-02-2007, 12:09 AM I have a Jet Black 325i. My next car is blue. Tell me about it, I have kids and hand prints are the most annoying of all. But then you learn to live with it and I do carry a soft cloth to wipe out the smudges when I can. |
