I have an 07' 328 XI with the complete Idrive and the whole works. Unfortunetly it only came with an AUX plug in middle console. How would I be able to get the Ipod interface and how much would it cost? Thanks for the help, Cheers!

The USB iPod interface is a factory install option ONLY. However, you may be able to get a custom iPod interface dealer installed, but it will only work with an iPod unlike the factory one which works with any USB MP3 player.

There's a Y-connector that you can get for the ipod. You can connect that from the ipod to the AUX plug. I don't know how much the connector costs because the IPOD option and the USB port was a $500 package. You can call the dealer and ask, they should tell you.

if he is missing the usb connector under the armrest, the cable will do him no good. The option is simply not there.

Since your car does not have the factory 6FL option (USB connector in armrest) you have three options for connecting your iPod.
1) Connect from headphone jack to AUX jack using a standard 3.5mm male-to-male cable ($5 at radio shack). This will give you audio only and you can control volume via steering wheel controls.
2) Connect from dock connector on iPod to AUX jack (and 12v charger jack) using something like the Monster iCharger ($10 at Amazon.com). This has 2 advantages over option #1 above. First, you get charging. Second, you get LINE OUT audio quality which is better than headphone out since it skips the internal iPod amplifier.
3) Get the dealer installed iPod kit. This will run ~$500 installed. Your iPod would then reside in the glovebox and the system will charge your iPod and give you complete control of the iPod via iDrive. There are drawbacks to this, especially if you have a large iPod with lots of artists/albums/songs and DO NOT listen mostly on shuffle. For more on this, check out the thread below where I review my experience with this interface and my full 60GB iPod.
