does anyone else have an OEM 6cd changer that keeps skipping your tunes over bumps??
ive got a cd changer located under the carpet in the boot, on the far right hand side.
it skips all the time over most bumps and im wondering if this is normal and if anyone has fixed or moved to an ideal location.
i have 17s on normal suspension. and im guessing that the location is not so ideal, being so close to the rear supension.
im thinking of placing a layer of foam or 2 directly under the cd changer and the plastic supporting board - to act as some kind of shock absorber for it.
any ideas???

Mine only skipped on bumps if they are really bad or the CD is scratched. It's been removed in favour of the DiceLink iPod system.

I have never had any issues with mine. I can't recall the last time it even skipped.

Are you guys going soft? Used to be fun to read a thread and bet when someone would throw down the "go search" card. Ozzy, ya my cd43 head unit skips but my vert has wicked cowel shake so I'm not sure what the cause is. Do a search in the audio section and you will find some similar comments and a couple ideas to check. I plan to do some more research and will post here.

Make sure the changer door is completely closed before driving off. The player is set to work at a certain angle. If the door is open it's at an incorrect angle and will skip.
You can check to see if the little pin for the angle has been moved by pulling the changer/player out and looking at the side. At least, that's where it is on my Alpine system (and other generic changers I've seen). Just remember when playing with the angle pin that it'll need to be set for the position that the changer will be in when the door is shut.
BTW I have 17"s on normal (sport) suspension, too.
Utopia, do you have the Alpine or the HK system? If Alpine I have the # for their refurb dept for BMW. $200 (including shipping) and they'll totally dismantle and rebuild the unit for you in like 4-5 days.
