I pick up my 335 tomorrow! It's only a day away....

Oh yes, there will be pics.

Anyone wanna buy a 99 M3?

My baby arrived on Saturday. I was insanely paranoid on the drive home. By this morning's drive, I was a little calmer.

Initial Thoughts:

-- clutch engages a lot sooner than my old Passat (a good thing)

-- who moved Reverse??? I almost crashed in my garage because I'm not used to the position of Reverse yet

-- torque everywhere is a good thing

-- I am firmly in the camp that believes comfort access rocks

-- iPod integration is very good --- but not up to the level of my last Alpine unit

-- why does the engine have to be running to set preferences such as door locking???

-- I am one happy kid in a candy store

lol, practice outside ;). Reminds me 1st time I ever drove an Opel when my dad was buying one some 20 years ago, I couldn't figure out how to put it in reverse (R is in the same spot as BMW, but you have to press upwards on a ring underneath the shift knob before you can move it there). I spent like 20 minutes going forward in the dealer's lot :D.

It doesn't. Press start button without foot on clutch and you should have access to all those functions.

Oh yeah, enjoy it.

oddly enough, the engine has to be running to set some functions, including door lock. Radio ready position is not enough. The manual says "engine running" and sure enough, that's true on my car.

oh -- and thanks to everyone on this forum who helped me scratch my Bimmer itch while waiting for my car to arrive.

hmmm, haven't done this in a while, but isn't radio ready position 1? press it a second time and you get position 2 where all the cluster indicators come on. If I am not mistaken, it then allows you to configure everything. I can try it out tonight to confirm and post findings.

Yes, there are three positions. I'm pretty sure I tried it in all 3 and it only works in position 3 (engine running). However, I am ready to hear a second opinion! Let me know how it goes mryakan

Wasn't your Passat the same position? Most German cars have it there...including my A4. It's not that big of a deal, although it is easier to get into reverse than I think it should be.

That's why I love it, makes for quick U turn maneuvers in tight spots. However, it does take some getting used to (witness some people test driving my 318ti, ouch the torture!). If you don't use a lot of force to put it in 1st, you'd never end up in reverse in my experience, but since I've been used to it for over 10 years, I may have forgotten how easy/hard it was to get used to it at 1st.

My Passat only has 5 gears. Reverse is where 6 is on my 335 (well not exactly; you have to push further over so you know you're shifting into reverse)

The reverse gate on mine is pretty firm. I can't conceive of accidently getting into reverse instead of first.

Eh I did it once at a light. I wasn't paying attention and it was in 3rd or something so when I went to quickly put it into 1st it went into reverse without much effort. I can see how you can do that, but there are lots of cars where reverse is in that position.

You definitely can program with the engine off. Push the button a 2nd time without foot on the brake/clutch.

I know you can program some things in 2nd position. Try programming door locking preference in 2nd position.

Just tried it out, yup definitely works as indicated above.

Just picked it up this morning and babied it all the way to work. It's wonderful though...the integrated bluetooth kicks ass! No real significant impressions yet...I only put 25 miles on it.

I gotta get used to the shift pattern and 6 speeds and not hearing the engine as much tho. Coming from an E36 M3 vert, it's going to take a little time.

Now if only there were a way to take those fucking WARNING!!!!!! stickers off the visors....

lmao, do you spend that much time staring at visors? You should be paying attention to the road and they will just fade into oblivion. hehehe, love the nitpickers, no offense.

Of course they are required by law from the manufacturer and they don't bug me, but since they seem to be driving you crazy, take a look at this. If you end up doing it, post before and after pics:

P.S. I am not sure if their absence presents a problem when safetying the car when you want to sell it (or returning if a lease), but I am sure you can get glue on stickers somewhere.

With Kevin Garnett gone, your Corey Brewer has really gotten sentenced to basketball purgatory. Too bad, he's a nice kid.

And Chris Richard. I'm hoping the TWolves are going young to rebuild for a title run; they were never going to get there with KG.
