Hi there,

I got my 95 e34 525i last October. My mech says it's using a GM auto tranny, but I'm not sure which model. I drained the fluid (abt 5 liters) and replaced the filter as well in Oct 96. Then in Feb this year, I decided to do a machine flush (did not change the filter). Since then I've not had any problems until recently when i noticed that the revs wont drop after 80km/h. It only locks up once a while, and from what I noticed, when the car is travelling downhill on two occasions. the car has clocked 10,000km since the flush in Feb.

there is no trans program message appearing, and also no error codes showing up on the diagnostics. gears 1-4 shift ok so far. do u think this has anything to do with the flush I did earlier? should i drain out the fluid and repl the filter? I've read that flushing damages old trannys because the gunk clogs the filter and reduces oil pressure; not sure how true is this.

I've done a search but couldn't quite find a similar problem; any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

I've found the source of the problem - the "D" needs to lighted up on the meter cluster in order for the lockup to function.
