View Full Version : Comfort Access
zzzzmikezzzz 07-29-2007, 07:48 PM Just wondering...I am picking up my first BMW on Tuesday. It is a 328xi with Premium, Sport, and Cold weather packages. Just wanted to know if comfort access is stock with the car. If not, can it be installed by the dealer?
Thx
greenie99 07-29-2007, 07:56 PM It is not standard and I do not believe that it can be added.
It's an option when ordering the car. I don't think it can be installed post-production.
sleeeper 07-29-2007, 08:19 PM Try to get it if you can, this is going to be the industry standard soon. I actually got a rental car with it! Can you imagine how many people will jack that up!
IR DOC 07-29-2007, 08:42 PM I was told by my CA that Comfort Access is available as an option and CANNOT be added at the dealership, post-production.

Keyless system for starting car, opening doors. Key stays in your pocket and you can just walk up to the car and it unlocks, sit and push start button to turn on/off car without inserting key in slot, lock doors by touching door handle.
It can't be added after, must be factory installed.

The Altima has it standard. So it's pretty much written in stone that everybody is going to be doing it to win people over...imo anyway

Some cars still don't offer ABS, so I am sure some bean counters will avoid putting that in non-high-end cars and sales folks will have lots of tales of why you don't need it (my favorite sales person explanation why ABS was not offered on the 96 eclipse was he said because it takes longer to stop on snow, no mention of loss of steering in his explanation though!)

Thats true(though, Mitsu now puts almost every peice of safety equipment available in pretty much all their cars.....except for stability control, but who cares? they're FWD). Thats some explanation though, considering some places dont get snow, and the steering, too...
sleeeper 07-30-2007, 05:36 PM The beauty is that you can go up to your car with an armload of stuff and not have to put it down or dig for keys, especially to get into the trunk. And no more rediculous key scratches!

Same with every keyless entry system since maybe the civil war.
