Hi there new to these forums but always been doing a lot of reading on e30tech.com I figured this forum would be best for this question though because it's not e30 specific.
Background: I have an 84 318i that's going to be a competition car eventually and it's mostly stripped at the moment. Just got the motor/tranny/front suspension out the other day, actually. It has some rust issues though, most of which are just rust through in the sheetmetal of the trunk and a little in the floorboards. So I'm looking for a shop in CT (because I would be having a friend throw the stripped chassis on a trailer and tow it up there for me) so they can just weld in some patches to fill the rusty spots and that's it. All I have is an arc welder and a gas welder and I'm by no means an expert at either, so I figured for this project I could leave that detail up to a professional. Anybody recommend anybody? I've never had anything like that done before so I'm not even sure who to ask for that sort of thing. A resto shop I'm sure could do it, but they might not want to do a rough job on it afraid you'll go talking to some muscle car guys and be lik eoh yeah so and so did that, it was great! and scare them off.
