Lsixer 07-30-2007, 12:19 PM Those 8's are fabulous. I have a few shots of my buddies 850, and of course my little six in the other shot.

dm635 07-30-2007, 12:51 PM man, i never realized how small our 6's were, compared to the 7. i like the 8's alot, but they cost much more to maintain. i'm happy with a 6.

your car is gorgeous. im new to the club what are the dimensions of those rims and tires? Are they Alpina rims?

thanks for the compliment. the pic is a little dated and those wheels are no longer on the car. the wheels are style 32's from a 540 sport. they were staggered 17"-8" front and 9" rear. they also require hub rings. they are the next best best thing to Alpina's in my opinion. fit the 6 lines very well. i now have Alpina's on the car.

Ok Dave, let's update the pic.. Inquiring minds want to know!!
dm635 07-31-2007, 09:58 AM OK Bill. One of these days I'm going to figure out how to post pics. Had a PC crash a while back and never got the camera dock station to work right either.
jbd5015 07-31-2007, 10:19 AM Ive seen shots of daves car with the alpinas, they are the open lug style and look awesome.

Alex E24 E30 07-31-2007, 10:28 AM That's about a period look right? Open lugs on a mid-model 6er? Don't think I've really ever seen an E24 with that style. I'm wanting to do a wheel change on my six, not only to get away from the TRX's but I think it will spiff up the car a bit at the same time. Top choice would be Alpina's followed by something like the wheel on the 8 series above (style # escapes me at the moment). Love to see some pics of those new wheels dave whenever you get the chance.

jbd5015 07-31-2007, 10:34 AM That is daves white car i posted with his alpinas, those are the more "correct period" wheel for the car. I think that wheel started in teh 70s and went through the 80s. The next alpina wheel was basically that with a lug nut cover.
The wheel your looking at on the 8 are style 65 or 66 i think, they are the wheel from an E39 M5, pretty popular to put on the 6ers.

dm635 07-31-2007, 12:01 PM thanks jeff for putting up the pics. the car was very dirty at the time i took those shots. needed to take those pics in a hurry, get them put on CD and send to someone. almost traded someone for a rust free 6. but i was going to keep the Alpina's. i'll get some better pics and if i can't post them, i'll let jeff do it for me.
alpinacsi 07-31-2007, 02:14 PM It could look like this:

dm635 08-01-2007, 09:27 AM what a contrast between the 2 great whites. mine will clean up pretty well, but not as nice as alpinacsi's. plus i just replaced the drivers fender(from a slight fender bender last fall) and i need to have it painted the correct shade of white.

When I brought this one home last summer, I would look at pics of yours and think how nice it looked. I hoped that it would clean up and look as good as yours. Many, many hours later and it surpased what I ever thought was possible. I was able to save the original paint and only had to paint the front bumper.
Let me know if you need that fender painted; I still have plenty of paint on hand.
dm635 08-02-2007, 08:44 AM thanks for saying that it does come across clean. it had a repaint before i bought it and i can't tell if the paint is a perfect match. it's very close. it's just the fender that needs paint plus a small repair on the nose panel i did when the fender was replaced.

Kind of puts things in perspective sitting on the 5 chassis doesn’t it. Me, I think the Cpe is just right :redspot
