I don't think it's just cutting a wire :)

I saw in mentioned in a post that you need to cut a black and white wire behind the drivers side rear panel. I just dont see it though.

tagging along on this one. I'd like to know this as well. I've never heard of a wire you cut, but it does make sense.

Why would you do that? You shouldn't be moving when adjusting the top, anyway. The wind can cause some serious damage.

I only want to roll at about 3-4 mph. I want to close my top as I'm parking. Instead of having to wait everytime.

...20-30 seconds is a long wait?

I think there's a nearly identical thread to this that was made a month or two ago.

It is when I drive my car several times a day. Multiply that by one year, multiply that by the life of the car, and thats a lot of time out of my life ;)

Dude I'd definately not do this. What scares me is say you're on the highway, and God forbid something shorts out (hey man, shit happens) and your top starts opening/closing while you're doing a good 60 MPH on the freeway.

BAD THINGS!!!!

I have a fully automatic top. It is latched tight. There is no correlation to me cutting the speed cut off wire and my top randomly opening on the highway.

I've heard stories of people saying their top wouldn't respond at all, but no stories of their top acting on it's own.

Hey man, when you screw with electrical systems, things happen.

You hear about people's windows going up and down automatically. There's no reason this couldn't happen. Say you spill a drink on your top switch on the highway and shorts out the switch and it activates the top? You know water conducts electricity, so all it takes is a drop of water between the contact points and that top is going to move.

All I'm saying is I wouldn't screw with that. It's there for a reason.

offtopic but i would like to see some pics of your car Golferpimp as your sig says you have bi-xenon and M3 e46 seats in your vert. Would love to see that.
Didnt know they did low-output xenons. Or if high beam is the largest lamp in US terms....doesnt this blind people a lot?

I put the xenons into the bright bulbs. Not sure about output, but they do light up properly. I'm getting some work done on the car this week but I'll get more interior pics up on monday.

I know i guy that told me that you can just wire your top to a remote control and it will go up and down at the push of a remote.. another idea btw..
im planning on doing that only because i would love to park the car and walk away as the top is going down or remotely have the top go up before i get to my car :redspot

No, I've never heard of this before. Windows getting stuck in an up or down position yes, but spontaneous raising or lowering of windows I've never read about. And if you happen to drop that water in that special place it'll mess with your top regardless.

I've seen a module for this sort of thing on Porsches before (says you can lower/raise top up to 30 MPH!?!!!), and my friend has done this to his S2000. The reason it's there is because they don't want people to raise/lower their top and rip it up or damage things, but doing this at a slow roll (sub 5-10 mph) isn't enough wind resistance to damage anything, and if something is going to happen spontaneous then it'll happen.

I think it would be nice as sometimes your rolling in slow traffic and realize it's too hot to have the top up... or you get out and realize it's a nicer day than you thought. It looks stupid to start to drop your top, move forward 15 feet only to have the top stop while you're moving, then starts up again...

exactly what I was thinking. The black and white wire sounds right. Thats the GAL speed wire, the Traffic pro I installed had me tap into that wire for the speed sensitive volume control. Now if only I could find it and cut that bad boy. I'm going to look for it again tommorrow.
