On the e92's anyone know why BMW dropped the 'trademark' fuel consumption gauge in favor of the engine temp gauge? I know that only about half of new BMW models have it, but the other 3's do and so does the 5. I guess in terms of actually giving you useful information it's pointless but it just seems odd to me that they would make a decision like that... especially since their gauges are known to be somewhat off and people have been (needlessly) freaking out about engine temp. It's more of a curiosity than anything.

I hate the damn gauge, I wish it was the temp gauge.

Hello "BavarianDDR17":

It can be accessed by the selection button on your turn signal control. Drop me a PM if the owner's manual does not make it clear.

The car's on order actually so it'll be a few weeks. I know that they have a digital read out of the MPG, it just more of a thing that the MPG gauge just seems so BMW to me. No biggie. And ya, the engine temp gauge is more functional for sure.

I think that gauge was one of the worst things you could put in the car. When I had an AUTO 330 as a rental it had it there and I found myself watching it too much.

If I want to see MPG I use the computer.

My IS300 had the gauge and I found it to be pretty nice. I actually preferred it over the computer readout in the IS250. I guess I just prefer to see a needle moving than numbers. The chronometer style gauges in the IS300 really was pretty cool too. But then, those lightsaber needles in the IS250 was pretty cool as well.

Oops...wrong forum...:cool

Ha... see I think that's what I mean about the MPG gauge. It's not as accurate and doesn't tell you as much as the computer readout but I just like the needle moving. Strange, I know.
