I cannot be anymore excited! I picked up my 328xi yesterday!! :redspot I have a couple of questions though...

First, I am hearing a knocking noise every once in a while (this car is brand new and just came off the boat). It seems to be coming from the front somewhere.

Second, my Ipod adapter does not seem to be working. I plugged the USB and Aux cords in, but the USB option is not coming up on my navigation screen. I've read the manual and am doing exactly what it says. Am I missing something?? :(

:help

Not sure how far you are from the dealer, but mine asked me for my iPod, hooked it up, and showed me how to work it. If he cant get it to work, ask him to switch out the cables, and then get started on addressing it.

I am realizing how well the dealer took care of me...and they really should, they get paid for going through the bells and whistles with you at delivery.

Hopefully its something small.

Is your A/C on when you hear the knocking noise? I have not heard it in my 335i but I had an 04 Volvo s40 and when it was brand new I heard a knocking noise when the A/C was on. Just a guess to your problem though.:confused

My CA did a very good job at going through everything with me, but I forgot to bring my iPod so we couldn't go over that at the dealership. He said to give him a call if I have any problems with it. I will call today. I was just wondering if maybe there was something else I was missing.

I actually do think I only hear it when the air is on. I will check that out.

Thanks!

There's a special cable needed from the dealer that goes with the 6FL package. The cable is supposed to be included with the package.

It has a cable on one end that plugs into the universal connector on your iPod and on the other end is a USB cable and an Aux connector. You're not supposed to plug the iPod into the car with a "normal" iPod USB cable.

Just wanted to point this fact out.

Assuming you have that, you need to select "Aux" input for the Entertainment system. Your iPod should show up there. You can also plug USB storage devices like flash drives into the USB port and the car will read MP3 files off those.

I have the cable that goes with the 6FL package. I plugged both the USB connector and the AUX connector in the car and my iPod on the universal connector end. When I select AUX nothing happens. It has the SET option and the screen says "External Device" something or other, but that's all that appears. Looks like I'm going to be paying the dealer an early visit, huh?

What is your iPOD? Older firewire MAC OS ones won't work...I had to buy a new one.

Knocking noise? Can you be more specific? Are you sure its not coming from the trunk? LOL
