I have not frequented this section for the last few years because I drove an automatic M3.

Last week I purchased a 1999 M3 (manual) with 14,000 miles. It is bone stock. Today, I have placed an order for the AA C38 Rotrex supercharger.

I have some questions.

What precautionary maintenance measures do I need to take?

Should I replace the cooling system, etc?

What are your impressions with the C38 system (to those who have it)? I am interested in this setup primarly because it is an 'entry' level sc kit, so to speak.

Can the stock flywheel and clutch handle the boost?

Any other advice is appreciated.

you are asking after you ordered it. lol.

anyway i don't have it but i have only heard good things. change your clutch when it goes and if you have the stock one it will go rather quickly if you launch and drop the clutch. if you drive it nice and easy (yeah i am laughing as i write this part) it will last for a while.

Hey RiceUM3, I just finished installing the c38 stage 2 I can probably answer some of your questions. I haven't gotten over 4k rpms yet, but so far the clutch hasn't slipped at all. I have a slightly used AA clutch, but will probably end up waiting until next year or so until I actually install since the stock one seems ok so far.

As for the cooling system, your car is new enough that the radiator should be fine. When I pulled the original one from my 95 with 26k mi the plastic still seemed fine. Guys will often change the radiator to an all aluminum not for the extra cooling but so they don't have to worry about the plastic connections on the end tanks cracking. I just replaced mine with another OEM one. You can get an aluminum one with a thicker core for more cooling, but then your sometimes run into fitment issues, and it won't be necessary for your setup anyway. Your best bet for now is to replace your waterpump with the stewart highperformance one ($200). It flows better than stock, has a lifetime warranty, and supposedly prevents cavitation. The belt has to come off to put the SC in anyway, so the install is pretty easy.

congrats! I demand pictures...:buttrock:lol

btw, how much did you end up paying for it? IMO, its probably the nicest example of an e36 in existence today.
