I have a 97 M3 and just purchased a used dinan supercharger kit (Vortech) from a friend and need to know what software to get for it. It is just the stage 1 kit so it should be producing 6 - 7 psi. Thanks in advance

BTW, I hope you got adequately compensated from the seller for the lack of a key component in the kit: Software.. What most folks would do in your shoes, though, is to start down the path toward making some real power with that platform. You could contact Nick G for a basic 11 psi upgrade to your system. I believe KO Performance also has a Dinan upgrade kit for your system. Search this forum.. Theres an awful lot of options that youve got. If you make the upgrade choice now, though, you can save the cost of two software purchases.. avoid the one for your system as it is, and just buy it once for your boost bumped revision.. Even if you dont want to do it now, trust me, youll want to do it in a few months. .By thinking long term now, youll save money by avoiding the small incremental upgrades so many of us have made the mistake doing. How much does it cost? Just consider that for the basic boot bump, youll need a 3.5" flanged K&N filter, RMS aftercooler, larger injectors, 3.5" hfm, and a 6" crank pulley, and of course the software thats written for it.. Those parts alone can get you an increase of about 100 whp, which is probably more than youll get from the sc kit youve just bought! Or, you can do it Really minimally by just buying an Aquamist Water Injection kit and a 6" crank pulley.. Those two parts alone can get you 30-40 whp, but like all sc systems without an intercooler, youll suffer from summer weather heat soak... Good luck... BMWm3MD 07-27-2007, 02:13 PM Thanks for all the input. Well the kit was a steal he only wanted 1500 for it so I had to jump right on it. I have another question. What does the turbotronics 9 box do? Thats not the software, right? Thanks. ///M3 CRAZY 07-27-2007, 02:18 PM Thanks for all the input. Well the kit was a steal he only wanted 1500 for it so I had to jump right on it. I have another question. What does the turbotronics 9 box do? Thats not the software, right? Thanks. no that is not the software. i believe that is dinan's version of what we all call a voltage clamp. you cheapest bet is to call dinan and buy the software from them directly. otherwise if you have to go through another tuner then you will need software, you may as well up the boost and most likely new injectors. BMWManiac 07-27-2007, 03:33 PM I believe NickG sells tuning for it...check it out at TechniqueTuning.com and be done with your search. |
