Vorshlag has a brand new part to announce - the Polyurethane Competition Motor Mounts for the E30 M3 (http://www.vorshlag.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=1_17_49&products_id=130).

The polyurethane inserts have a durometer of Shoreline A 90, which is markedly less stiff than our Nylon S14 mounts ("bowling ball") but still much stiffer than OEM or Group N rubber squisho mounts. When used in conjunction with poly transmission mounts these motor mounts help to reduce drivetrain slop on both street driven M3s and dedicated track beasts. Improved shift feel and throttle response are very noticeable, and these have become very popular with the E36/46 crowd. Upgradable to Nylon-6 inserts if the car ever becomes a track-only car and you want the additional drivetrain stiffness. 100% made in the USA.

This Poly S14 part helps complete the line-up of E30 Competition motor mounts (http://www.vorshlag.com/cart/index.php?cPath=1_17_49) from Vorshlag. We are still working on the last piece of E30 motor mount coverage - the E30 M42 mounts. We have one of these cars ourselves and will have something shortly. :)

The S14 mounts are in stock for both Nylon and Poly and ready to ship. These are designed by BMW racers, made by BMW racers, for BMW racers!

No more Group Buys for the rest of 2007... we've exceeded our GB quota for the year already, and people never understand that GBs come to an end. :D

I would go with the Polyurethane mounts for your particular set-up.

Kris. Suck it up and buy. Comes out to like what? 190 shipped? That's still cheaper than most of the other aftermarket motor mounts. Anyways, I bought the nylon mounts. Bit extreme... but I like extreme. Definitely get the polys.
AND how about them sways? :stickoutt

Quick question, can you measure those S14 mounts and PM me a height? I've got an M50 in an E30 and I don't want to use the OEM M5 mounts that most people use.

Does this mean you've given up on the mounts for the e30 M50/S50 engines?

Sam
We haven't given up on the S50/E30 mounts! We built a prototype set that an S50/E30 owner is testing for us. One side was perfect, the other side needs a tweak. We're waiting back on measurements from him then we'll build the proper mount for that side and offer it all for sale. :)

Jon
They are within 1 mm of the OEM mounts height (when compressed), which is what people requested so that the engine height is not altered.

I just put the Nylon ones in my E36 last week. I love them. Yes it's a bit extreme with the vibration at idle, but it's gone when you start driving past 1000 rpm. I love the vibration though. Gives you a better feeling of the car. :D

We've had a big run on Vorshlag motor mounts today - sold 3 sets before lunch - keep em coming! :redspot

Yep, that's what most folks say... above 1000 rpm the Nylons don't add any NVH... with the well balanced straight 6 cylinder.

With the 4 cylinder S14 we highly recommend the polyurethane inserts. :D We make and sell Nylon versions for these, but they add considerable NVH to the S14 set-up. Just wanted to give fair warning to the E30 M3 racers out there...
