It's not too early to start planning a trip with your fellow Sunbelt'rs to Fort Worth Texas! Registration is now open.
As BMW CCA’s largest national gathering each year, Oktoberfest draws hundreds of attendees from around the country. This year it’s in Fort Worth, Texas, and runs Sunday, Sep. 30 through late Friday, Oct. 5. In addition to six days of socializing, events include a driving school and autocross Monday and Tuesday; gymkhana Wednesday; fun rally (on your own Monday to Thursday), concours (Friday), photo contest, and street survival program (Wednesday, Saturday). A two-day BMW CCA club race runs Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 28-29.
Receptions with food or evening meals are provided daily except Thursday. Wednesday is a barbecue at Billy Bob’s Texas and transportation is provided, so drink up (unless you’re riding the mechanical bull). Thursday may be the best day for exploring or running the fun rally; it’s pretty much free after your finish the timed (TSD) rally. Click to register online or for a downloadable form; they’re also in May and June Roundel.
Check out the site for a great explaination of all the weeks events.

A ///Monster 08-06-2007, 12:14 PM Can I get one thing straightened out. There is a difference between the driving school and the DE (driving event). The DE is run in between the club races. Am I correct? I am thinking about going to this. I don't know what car to bring though. Probably the M3.
Cali330ti 08-06-2007, 02:24 PM I need to freaking register. And make accommodations. As long as she lives again I'll be doing the DE.

What DE are you refereing to? There is a Driving School, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. It is the same school each day, not a continuation. You either go to Mondays or Tuesdays (guess you could go both days if you wanted to take it twice).

I was looking off of the lone star chapter's page http://www.lscbmwcca.org/events.html#current it makes it seem as if there is a seperation between the DE and the Driving School? Or does Driving school = driving event? That page also states that there is a racing school that is going on. I suppose I should just email the contacts that are on the lscbmwcca page.

That is the weekend before O-fest. It is a BMW CCA Club race and Solo DE...
from their site, "In order to qualify, you have to be previously soloed by either the Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA or Maverick Region PCA at MSR. NO others will be allowed." Unless you qualify, the O-fest Driving School on Monday/Tuesday is for you.
A ///Monster 08-09-2007, 10:59 AM I've blue solo'd with the lscbmwcca chapter before. I'd rather do that than sit in a class room for half of my driving time. Besides, the weekend works out way better for me. How novice oriented is the school going to be? Is there any soloing with the school? Is the school monday and tuesday or just on day, monday or tuesday?

Besides, the weekend works out way better for me. How novice oriented is the school going to be? Is there any soloing with the school? Is the school monday and tuesday or just on day, monday or tuesday? I looked over the Ofest site again, it appears there are diferences in the Driving School classes. You should get assigned based on your experience, not sure which day is which, the site has that info (Official Rules) blocked for some reason.

Discount registration ends this Sunday, Aug. 19
It also appears as if the Hilton is still available at the discount rate for most of the nights.
Some clarification on what you get for your registration fee:
Registration fee covers all activities of the particular day, if a day pass, except for extra fee events such as Street Survival, DS or AX. It gets you a registration packet and goddie bag, door prize tickets, lanyard, credential that is required for any food events (dinners, reception), bus transport to Billy Bob's for Wednesday night, Fun Rally entry, Photo contest entry, Trivia contest entry if they have one, access to vendors and covers Admin overhead of putting on event. Friends/guests can spectate w/o registration but will need credential to access vendors. Week pass is all food events and competitive events TSD Rally, Concoursand Gymkhana. Generally three days will be more expensive than the whole week. Essentially the registration fee covers the cost of the food (which can run upto $35-40 for reception when service charges, tip and taxes are added, dinners can run $50-60 inclusive). Admin fees cover cost of printing, shipping, postage, event program book, signage, promo, equipment rentals, trophies, etc. and generally run $35-45/person.
Food at reception is set as Buffet line so there is no way to do reception w/o food option. Club race spectating does not require registration.
A ///Monster 08-28-2007, 02:51 AM I thought I could swing it but now I'm sure I won't be going. My ground control RLCAs have failed due to never being tightened by the alignment tech guy. grrr...
SoonerE39 08-29-2007, 11:21 PM I'm still willing to split the hotel room cost Sunday and Monday nights if anyone wants to. Only minimal ground rules:
1)no smoking in the room
2)you bring a girl back, I'll abandon the room till midnight. After that i reserve the right to take pics and sell them on the internet
3) You watch any PPV porn you pay for it, not me.
:D
itzdarave 08-30-2007, 05:35 AM I might hav to plan for a road trip..

What if I don't smoke but shoot dope?
How would you feel if I brought an inflatable date and some vaseline?
And as far as the PPV porn, if I rent it and you keep your eyes open while it's on, can't you help me out a little with the cost?

Non-Ms will do the DE Monday and autocross Tuesday.

Saturday and Sunday there's a solo only DE put on by the local chapter. There is also a Club Race School on these 2 days.
Then on Monday and Tuesday there are the two 1 day regular DE's.
SoonerE39 09-03-2007, 06:06 PM How would you feel if I brought an inflatable date and some vaseline?
Schweet. Your inflatable date and mine can get some inflatable-on-inflatable action going:buttrock
Better bring an air compressor and some raft patches.
