BMWMPow3r 07-24-2007, 09:11 AM Only the 1997 and 1998 Z3 came with an aluminum M52 (not to be confused with the M52TU) block with ferrous sleeves. ferrous sleeves? can it be interchanged with a m50 head? Is it double vanos? Why aluminum for this application, Performance? FredK 07-24-2007, 10:44 AM ferrous sleeves? can it be interchanged with a m50 head? Is it double vanos? Why aluminum for this application, Performance? Yes, the block is sleeved, which is a common move to increase cylinder wall service life. It is Single Vanos and is compatible with M50, M50TU, M52, S50US, and S52US heads. It may have resulted in a better weight distribution / lighter front axle with an aluminum block. BMWMPow3r 07-24-2007, 10:50 AM not sure what sleeved means? What about warpage? .Tom. 07-24-2007, 11:09 AM not sure what sleeved means? What about warpage? sleeved means there are sleeves around the pistons, look in the piston bores..its not aluminum there. All aluminum blocks are sleeved. go to how stuff works dot com if you wanna learn more, they probally have a write up on it..... the biggest advantage of this motor is the weight savings over an iron block:redspot thanks for the help fredK back on topic thet's get this block sold 325iklu 07-24-2007, 02:17 PM i hate the midwest. there aint shit out here :( .Tom. 07-24-2007, 10:27 PM bump .Tom. 07-25-2007, 03:58 PM buy this block .Tom. 07-26-2007, 12:01 PM bump, will include new guides, tensioners, timing chains and case gaskets .Tom. 07-27-2007, 12:52 AM bump .Tom. 07-29-2007, 12:10 AM ttt .Tom. 07-30-2007, 11:49 AM bump .Tom. 08-01-2007, 01:46 AM ttt .Tom. 08-02-2007, 12:49 AM still for sale theruss1an1 08-02-2007, 01:27 AM G.L. with the sale.
