I received my subwoofer package for my 2000 touring. The kit consists of a concealed box with subwoofer preinstalled, fosgate amplifier, line out converter, power, ground cable, speaker wire, install guide. The install instructions are well written. My car does not have DSP unfortunately. I removed the cd changer to install the amp as I found this to be the cleanest method and I doubt I will use the changer in the future. I will just get an ipod interface. At the same time, with previous 4:3 nav screen was swapped for a 16:9 screen with appropriate trim bezel. I also installed the 12gen bluetooth ULF module and BM53 Radio Module.

I disregarded the amp mounting instructions BSW had given me. I felt velcroing the amp was not a suitable method. I used the cd changer bracket and supplied wood panel to mount the amplifier inside the changer bracket. Perfect fit, and the dials were left on top so there is easy access to them on the amp.

I wish I could post pics:mad:mad:mad:mad

Value for money : 5 Stars
Sound Quality : 3 Stars
Install Guide : 5 stars
Completeness of Kit : 5 Stars

I felt the sound was a bit boomy for my liking and not like the Reus upgrades I have heard in the past. I still need to fiddle with the adjustments . I prefer nice tight base in sync with the music.

how does that sound versus like a 10 inch sub in a ported box? as far as sound quality goes of course?

I always like a sealed box so for my preference, it sounds decent. I want tweak the crossover settings a bit and add the amplifier volume knob.

Put the BSW Touring Sub in my 2001 540it last night.:D

Install:
Instructions are EXCELLENT.
Pretty easy install. Space is pretty tight when you're tapping into the wires to the OE amp. Not a lot of OE wire to work with and as a result, crimping the supplied butt connectors is kind of a PITA. (Note to BSW: 3M tap-in connectors would have been WAY easier/quicker. Perhaps they are not good for audio connections, though?) Luckily, BSW supplies spare butt connectors - as I dropped one behind the OE amp . . .
Other than that aspect of the install, the remainder was a breeze.
Because the car has BMW Nav and CD changer, I ended-up mounting the amp under the floor board behind the rear seat in front of the spare tire well. Its a perfect fit and velcro's directly to the floor w/ the supplied velcro.
I mounted the remote amp EQ (gain control) under the Nav mounting tray just above the CD changer - so I can adjust the amp without removing the floor board (which is bolted down w/5 bolts).
I thought about running the remote into the front of the car, but its a fairly large unit that would not fit-in well w/ the rest of the interior. (I am a stickler for OE-looking audio/interior).
The Sub enclosure is a tight fit - but of course fits.
BSW supplies everything needed for a nice tight sano install. It looked so clean that I felt like a stereo pro when I was done.:buttrock

Performance:
I have not done a final tuning of the amp yet, so my assessment is very preliminary and perhaps premature. I am NOT an audiophile, but to me the overall performance is very very good. :alright

I have the non-dsp OE HU/speakers. For "regular" music, like Bob Marley, The Police, etc. the system w/ BSW sub sounds damn near PERFECT. I need to adjust the crossover point of the amp a little, and will do so after I install the BSW Stage 1 speaker upgrade (which is sitting in the garage), but the bass sounds GREAT right now when playing "normal" flat music.
With "artificially bass-boosted/heavy" music like Kanye West's latest CD, the low bass tones over-power the rest of the music, even w/ the sub amp EQ turned down to zero. This can be neutralized somewhat via turning down the OE HU's bass level setting, but this renders the mid-bass almost nonexistent with still quite pronounced low bass.
Again, after the Stage 1 install, I will do a final tuning of the amp and will hopefully rectify most of this issue with this type of music.

Very happy with the sub and can't wait to get the Stage 1 speakers installed and fine tune the sub amp.

Kudos to BSW.:buttrock

EDIT: During the course of the Stage One speaker install, I discovered that when you disconnect the OE sub, the rear door tweeters are also disconnected, as the OE sub houses the crossovers for the tweeters. To correct this and thereby retain rear tweeter function, you must extract the crossover network from the OE sub and plug it back into the sub harness. Not very difficult to do - but for a non-stereo guy like me - this was a MAJOR PITA to figure out on my own. I'm sure BSW will correct this w/ future kits.

Well, finally got everything installed and the amp final-tuned.

With the Stage One speakers installed, I finally tuned the sub amp. I also removed the thick dense piece of sound deadening on the interior of the panel covering the sub. Very simple to do and easily reversible.

End result is fantastic. For the price and relative ease of installation, the sound quality and bass impact is awesome with all types of music. Very satisfied w/ the end result.

I just need some door speakers for the front. Can't I just get a set of 2 speakers for my 97 with DSP? I was under the impression BSW is only selling these entire kits...

:lol

No, I hear ya. Notwithstanding its record sales, except for maybe 2 cuts, it IS a totally lame CD . . .:(

I used Kanye's latest as an example of the typical R&B/Rap boosted-bass sound.

But after replacing the rest of the speakers w/ BSW, tuning the sub amp properly, and removing that sound deadening in front of the sub, I can say that EVEN the bass in Kanye's CD sounds AMAZINGLY good for audio this simple/affordable. At the same time, the bass in normal "flat" music also sounds great.

For my audio tastes, the BSW stuff is exactly what the doctor ordered.:buttrock

Highly recomend it. The service and attention from Halston and Jason (tech support) at BSW was excellent as well.
