SPC Makoto 07-25-2007, 02:11 PM expect your car to arrive at the dealership 5 weeks from production date. what options did you get, and how much? my dealer said $800 over invoice now. bmw535xi 07-26-2007, 12:50 AM Thanks for the info. Options: STEPTRONIC Automatic Transmission Park Distance Control Premium Package Cold Weather Package BMW On-Board Navigation System Rear Seat Heating Split-folding rear seats and ski bag SIRIUS Satellite Radio iPod/USB Adapter I paid about $1,200 above invoice. dmeisenberg 08-03-2007, 08:45 AM I am thinking about getting a new 535iXT as well. I would appreciate learning about anyone else's experience with the car. I had a 99 540 wagon and loved it. Thanks. d zoink 08-03-2007, 02:52 PM My 535xi wagon is my 2nd BMW (before had '02 540i) but my first wagon ever.... Handling: What I feel is that during high-speed cornering, the car feels butt heavy despite close to 50-50 distribution. But this is the 1st car I have w/ run flats.... so not sure whether stiff tire walls play a major role here. Power: Power is good, especially in mid speed (40-80).... above 100, the engine feels to lose some steam.... but I may be biased as I have a faster car. Steering: Tight.... just like BMW. A lot tighter than my E55, IMO. Noise: Too quiet.... I'm honestly not used to a car like this quiet. You could hardly hear the engine and the exhaust. But a little mod on the exhaust - if available - should do it. What else do you want to know? dmeisenberg 08-03-2007, 06:40 PM mileage? d zoink 08-03-2007, 10:47 PM I have a heavy foot :D So far.... 16-17mpg for mixed driving; 19.5 for 5-hour trip on interstate (90% 100-110mph). I'd guess my wife seems to get a better one: around 23mpg. Squeaky Wheel 08-05-2007, 10:59 AM My 535xi wagon is my 2nd BMW (before had '02 540i) but my first wagon ever.... I'm coming from an '02 Audi Allroad with a bunch of mods including power boost, better sway bars, bigger rubber, etc...so I'm accustomed to driving a big heavy power wagon. The 535xi is a significantly better handling car, even with the Audi's aftermarket sway bars and 18" summer tires. 535 feels far closer to a sedan, but it's still a wagon. Steering: tight Noise: is there any? 100 mph sounds like 30 mph Mileage: At 75-80 mph driving from Denver to Grand Junction, which has several mountain passes, I averaged 21.8. I'm expecting that to improve a bit with time. Around town the computer is showing 20.6. My 2 biggest gripes on this wagon are fairly minor: 1. I Didn't opt for the upgraded stereo. The stock unit is pleasant but not exceptional but just doesn't get loud enogh. Even at max volume I find myself turning the dial for a bit more juice. With windows/sunroof open this is a real problem. Since I'm leasing the car I don't really want to mess with the system but I may research adding an aamp & maybe a sub. 2. No compass? WTF?????? I saw an upgradeable rear view mirror with compass for over $600 in the 5 series accessories catalog. This should be stock on any car of this quality & price. It's a minor feature but a big oversight IMO. abbyplayer 08-06-2007, 08:36 PM I've had my black/black 08 535xi since 5/31, nav, sport, cold, prem, satel, full integ ipod, first bmw, very happy.... zoink 08-06-2007, 09:26 PM OK one question to your 535xi wagon owners.... the adaptive headlights... can you feel that they're moving as you turn? I can't.... I could see it on my E55.... pearl85 08-06-2007, 09:29 PM time will depend on when production starts and when it gets on the ship Squeaky Wheel 08-07-2007, 09:57 PM OK one question to your 535xi wagon owners.... the adaptive headlights... can you feel that they're moving as you turn? I can't.... I could see it on my E55.... At speeds less than 45 mph....definitely. At higher speeds...not so sure. I think I read in the owner's manual that they don't turn at higher speeds. zoink 08-08-2007, 01:33 AM At speeds less than 45 mph....definitely. At higher speeds...not so sure. I think I read in the owner's manual that they don't turn at higher speeds. Thanks... either mercedes has better adaptive lights and my eyes are used to it... or mine has some issues. No, I drove it around my house's block and around highway ramps at only 20mph, and I couldn't see they were moving.... :mad One more thing (sorry, OP... not mean to hijack the thread): I went over a sudden bump on the highway last night.... OMG, it felt as if the car had a tire blown..... so violent.... even the windshield felt as if it were about to crack. Anyone experience this? Or my car has defective suspension also? sprinkles 08-09-2007, 12:04 AM I have a 08' 535xi wagon too, which I picked up last week. The total time was a little over two months. I ordered it May 29th and picked it up August 1st. On a recent trip from vermont to new york city, i got a little less than 28 mpg. This was a route with a lot of hills and I passed a few trucks, once hitting almost 100. I think on a flat highway going 65 w/ cruise control, I could get 30. What options did you get? Must be my bike rack :D going 40 on flat roads, I see the instant mpg dial around 35. I think the mileage is incredible for a 300(+?) HP 2.1 ton wagon. You also dont see a lot of cars that can match their EPA estamates, let alone beat them. It must be the bike rack that ruins yours, when I attached to ski rack to my old Passat, it dropped several MPG. By the way theres a compass in "current position" on the navigation. I love this car though, I dont think theres a better AWD wagon in the world. Glad a waited for the 08' and this engine fm.illuminatus 08-09-2007, 10:18 PM My 535xi wagon is my 2nd BMW (before had '02 540i) but my first wagon ever.... I don't have Nav, so no compass. BMW makes an after-market mirror with a compass in the right hand corner - the kind you see on just about every high-end car. But I'm not willing to pay $550 + install for it. I came from an Audi Allroad to the 535xi. That car was amazing, but this is better (even after all the mods I did to it) zoink 08-10-2007, 12:58 PM Oooo! You have a 535xi wagon! I was thinking about getting one, could you post or pm me pics? Thanks! Never even seen one in person. Just did in the thread you started.... before the tints, though. Will post pics after I take ones this weekend. Oh, one thing that I just realized.... this car does NOT have dipstick.... :mad so can't use my mityvac :( Had to pay $160 to change my first oil (after break-in, not part of the free maintenance is it was not required to do so). Heck, I wasn't so sure about the location of oil filter either.... it looks like it's under the big plastic cap in front of the engine.... can anyone confirm? It looks a lot larger than my 5.5L S/C benz engine. :shifty |
