View Full Version : Kimi's bad luck run ..
Armo95 07-23-2007, 12:35 PM Poor guy finally starts winning races and BAM, there comes his bad luck again. The guy's an amazing driver, but the bad luck is still around for him.
I love the commentator:
"And here's the indepth conversation with Kimi, let's listen .."
"So, what went wrong out there, Kimi?"
"Hydraulics"
:rofl The guy's awesome.

MY old joke. :)
///Mal 07-23-2007, 07:27 PM Hydraulics my a$$, more like his 'run light' strategy back fired this time.
I think that's why he prolly stopped pushing on FA, but it was already too late.

And this is one of the things I actually love about NASCAR. Coded interviews.
Interview, "Our car ran great until we had an electrical gremlin, and I'd really like to give a special thanks to my motor builder."
Translation, "There is now a hole in the block that I can read War and Peace through and I'm gonna kick the engine builder's ass when we get back to North Carolina."
gobuffs 07-23-2007, 08:57 PM Does he REALLY have bad luck? Bad luck is a few races...this "bad luck" is now what? 2-3 years? Funny how the McLarens have been pretty reliable this year.

It just seems like bad luck follows him. You're right, it's been some time. And every single time he leaves a team, everything returns to normal. Kimi has mechanical issues wherever he goes.
He's an awesome driver, but there's always something with the cars he drives.

You completely missed my point...

You're saying he caused all his problems?

Some people are just harder on stuff.

It's possible, but then again, that's how you win races. After all, he did win in Silverstone and France, back to back.

Ron Dennis's ambiguity is legendary. During the Peugeot powered era, one of the engines blew up like the Godfather during a race. Later that week, Ron's press release chalked the retirement up to "A loss of oil pressure." :)

Not true....to finish first, you must first finish.
Armo95 07-23-2007, 09:28 PM Not true....to finish first, you must first finish.
And he didn't first finish at Silverstone and France, right?
What's your point with these posts? You may think it's not bad luck, so be it.
People have bad luck their entire careers in motorsports. Kimi's has only been, what, two years? The guy can drive and it's obvious for those that have been following F1 for years.

Why are you getting so pissy about me not agreeing with you? Is it bad luck? Maybe. Does bad luck follow him? Maybe. Is some of it his fault? Maybe.

Not getting pissy, people disagree with me all the time, but saying that it's not bad luck because it's been 2-3 years is absurd. People have bad luck with their cars for their entire careers.
In any event, you can't argue with his driving abilities. He's capable of winning races and being harder on stuff is what the sport is all about.
I tell you something, we'll really see the seperation of men from the boys when traction is gone next year.

:D
And it was true, there sure was a loss of oil pressure.

fuel is technically a hydraulic, right?
Jake
///Mal 07-24-2007, 01:25 PM Right!! .... Technically 'Fuel' would be less ambigious
Infini IV 07-24-2007, 09:49 PM Kimi's only been out of luck two times this year...
Earlier in the season, excluding Melbourne, he was just lacking the pace. Then he messed it up himself at Monaco. Massa had his fair share of bad luck as well, but hadn't been struggling with the car as Kimi did.
Kimi does have a quicker pace than Massa though (especially in "adverse" conditions... haha), and I think it will show in the remaining 7 races.
sportcarm3 07-25-2007, 01:22 AM I think Kimi is an awesome driver, my favorite out there by far. However he does seem to have a hard time preserving the cars he drives. You can drive a car fast but you need to preserve the car and not beat it completely up before the race is over. In the euro GP where he broke his suspension on the last lap, what are the odd's of that happening??? I know he flat spotted his tire and the vibration eventually broke the suspension, but its like everytime he makes a small mistake he gets the ultimate consequences. I think he can win a DC, he just needs some more patience with the cars maybe, and perhaps a little luck.

His Finnish mentor (Mika Hakkinen) was also extremely fast early in his career. In his first race for McLaren at Portugal '93, he outqualified his teammate. Big deal, you say?
His teammate was Ayrton Senna.
It took six years for that speed to pay off. Mika didn't win a WDC until 1998. Kimi still has time to secure a championship.

Mika was quicker than Schumi early on... perhaps still would have been. His raw speed was amazing. I'd almost put him up there with Senna... but he lacked the brains of Senna, something which Schumi was obviously NOT lacking.
I never followed Mika through his later, more succesful F1 years, but saw his early years. His last F3 race in Macau was perhaps indicative of how things were to be later on in F1.

You don't get it. It's not bad luck, if anything it would be a curse, but it's not that either. Kimi is a great driver and can drive the crap out of the cars, unfortunately, that's a bad thing sometimes. I do agree that his driving style is much harder on cars than that of other drivers, and his very limited mechanical knowledge certainly can't help him out.

You spoke with Kimi about his mechanical knowledge?

Lemme know next time you hit him up so I can conference in!

Don't bother going you wont understand a word he says. I barely made out what he told me about him having no mechanical knowledge.

It was sarcasm related to his post . . . what's the point of saying you can answer everyone's questions, and then not?
What if a doctor walked in and said, "I could cure many of the ailments here, lol." And walked out?
Ferrari fan? :)
BMW first, then Red Bull. Massa is a whiny bitch and Kimi is lazy and boring.

You obviously are unaware that Rory works for McLaren.

He does know.

I am well aware. I know he can't answer the questions, which is why I made my post in the first place. It was just sarcasm to his teasing about knowing the answers. Jeez.

Lighten up dude. Rory's post seemed to be light hearted. There's no shame in chilling out and having a friendly discussion about a sport. (or should I say spectacle in F1's case... haha)

tsweers89 07-28-2007, 12:02 PM Yeah it sucks. I wish it was felipe having the bad luck instead i hate that baby.
