This happened at 6pm. A young woman talking on a cell phone drove right through a stop sign then had the nerve to say it was my fault cause my horn scared her. Knocked me in a 190 degree spin and she was in a Mazdas<table style="width:194px;"><tr><td align="center" style="height:194px;background:url(http://picasaweb.google.com/f/img/transparent_album_background.gif) no-repeat left"><a href="<A href="http://picasaweb.google.com/sbarley123/Wreck?authkey=s5dcOqrOXsY"><img">http://picasaweb.google.com/sbarley123/Wreck?authkey=s5dcOqrOXsY"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/sbarley123/RqNPs3h6ztE/AAAAAAAAAQU/033cc8ba6oA/s160-c/Wreck.jpg" width="160" height="160" style="margin:1px 0 0 4px;"></a></td></tr><tr><td style="text-align:center;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:11px"><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/sbarley123/Wreck?authkey=s5dcOqrOXsY" style="color:#4D4D4D;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;">wreck</a></td></tr></table>he was in a MX6http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/picasaweb. /sbarley123/Wreck?authkey=s5dcOqrOXsY

Also this L6 has only 112k miles Or should I say HAD.And I wanted to cry but I was too angry at this rich little girl whos daddy came and the first thing I heard him say to her was I will get you a new car tomorrow. Thats teaching accountability and responsibility.Thats what is wrong with the youth today.I had to use this to forum to grieve a little cause only you guys understand what this car meant,

steve,i'm so sorry that happened. but the main thing is you're OK and the 6 did it's job in protecting you. with comments like trying to blame you and your horn scared me(what the hell are you supposed to do when that's all you got left), i hope you can teach this girl a lesson, like having daddy buy you a new one as well. just a couple days ago i had someone coming at me in my lane. i was planning on ditching while hitting the horn and flashing high beams. was too close for me.

Very sorry to see what has happened. It definitely is heartbreaking when this happens to your pride & joy, but certainly amplified when there is no remorse or recognition of responsibility for what has occurred.

The rarity of your car makes it all the more painful, something she and her father clearly have no comprehension of. I hope you are able to get it sorted without too much grief.

Sorry to see this!

There was a listing for new quarters on ebay and the guy had several. The price was not bad but shipping was expensive because of the packing and size. Looks like the control arm probably took most of the suspension impact so that and a half shaft may be the only damage there. Then there is the wheel. Just don't let the insurance company tell you it is just an old car and don't be afraid to have your insurance company get involved.

Hope the insurance is on your side with this one. Ususally when an older car gets hit like that, they tend to get skimpy. Sorry about the hit, but as dave said, at least you are ok. E24's are really safe cars.

did you get my emails about the seat parts you were seeking?

sixernick
07-23-2007, 07:34 PM
Hmm. Since it was her fault her insurance has unlimited liablity. So, with this if they do not fix the car at your choice or BMW authorized repair facility then you will have to sue the client. The car is likly fixable, it will be expensive, but it must be done. I would not even give the insurace company a chace to total the car, it was the dumb@@@@@ that hit you and it was her fault. YOu want the car fixed reguardless of the cost. How's your back by the way?

A freind of mine had a Volov 242 turbo whos insurace tried to totally it, she took it do the body shop had them do 6k worth of work and made it perfect. Obviously the insurace comapy was stuck with this and I woudn't feel bad about it at all. The insurace comapany has to make it right by you not the other way around.

Also, if they try to total it you need to play the find me one in this color game too, as that is not a real commen color.

Bluesman

Actually mine is the last color introduced to this line I believe.Luxor Beige. It makes the car look so regal.I have not seen one in person But I did see one on BigCoupe its in San Diego I believe.I met with the adjustor today and even he felt bad. He told me they will probably total it and let me know what I can expect from them I will wait and see. I gave him a list of parts upgrades and maintainence records equaling 14500 just in the last year.I looked under the car and saw that 1.LSD has busted away from frame.2.bilstien shock bent.sway bar bent. I ofcourse could not at this time see any frame damage. Can anyone tell me 1.will an 84 633 trailing arm replace mine? Also rear axles from a 5 speed are they different for an auto. Thanks guys for your kind words and support. My wife said we all sound like someone died. She doesn't understand

I am sorry that your wife doesn't understand, but someone HAS died (almost). I would go after miss little rich bitch and get your car fixed. There is nothing concerning you in her policy that says you have to settle for a total.

As I may try to fix mechanicals myself (if necessary) I am wondereing what do you guys recommend for the LSD.it's an L6 so its an auto and I would like it a little quicker of the line but I also don't want to get 12 MPG.Thanks again

You should be alright putting in a 3.73 to step up the pace on the car a little bit. Im no sure what comes stock in the car. If the 3.73 is too much, there is a 3.46.

did you get my emails about the seat parts you were seeking?

Steve,I guess you didn't get my emails. I sent 2,especially thanking you for taking the time to take pics and sending them. Unfortunately, what you have is the frame for the comfort seats. I am working on sports seats and the frames, motors and cables are completely different. I have a set of comfort frames that I'm trying to use,but that's not working out very well. Thanks again for taking the time to help out, but I can't really use it.
Sorry about what happened to your 6,you are going to have to fight to get satisfaction. DON'T GIVE UP!!! My daughter had her volvo 242(2 door 240) totaled by another driver. I went round and round with the other ins company and lost my temper a few times and hardly came out with enough to buy her another car. But the 242 really saved her life as a honda pulled in front of her while she was driving at 55mph. She had right of way. But I still still had to fight and it took quite a bit of time. They want you to give up.

The trailing arm from the e28 5ers will also work and are more common. The only differenced I have seen in the trailing arms is that some had a stud attached that a clip to hold the wiring from an elec sensor (brake lining or ABS?). It has been 10-12 years since I swapped these around so maybe someone else will know better. The half shaft is the same for auto or manual and the e28 again is the same. Hopefully it is just the diff mount that is damaged which can be easily replaced. How is the rear cover on the diff? Also check out the rear crossmember.

Good luck and don't take the first or second offer from the insurance co.

Such an awful sight. You didn't happen to get a picture of the remnants of the Mazda, did you? Was the chick hot?
Temporary repayment options: :bj, :ar15firin, :69, :rocketwho.

Makes me worry about what's going to happen when I get mine done. All of this money I'm pouring into it can all be for nothing in a matter of seconds.

Sickening. At least your car faired better than hers, though if daddy's buying her a new one, that doesn't matter. I think you should fight the insurance to get it rebuilt. Have it done at a BMW specialty shop. Run up the tab on the insurance. Do not, by any means, allow it to become totaled. Legally they are bound to repair your car. At least that's the way it is in the east, and I've heard that California has some tough "no clause" regulations. So you should be able to have your car repaired for you by her insurance. Did the accident report clearly put her at fault? Was it vauge? You should make sure it clearly places the blame on her before you go harassing her insurance.

Dont even try that last link. Anyway heres an update. She admitted the truth so they have offered me $9200 + I keep my car and the title will not say salvaged so I am taking them up on that This is for the car only no medical lost wages pain etc. The adjuster was a pretty knowledgeable fellow and did admit my 6 was the nicest he had ever come across both personally and professionally. I think I can fix it and actually have a few bucks to put into my e12 based 633 that really needs paint. If I can't fix it I will take what I can and sell the rest. It only has 112000 original miles. It's funny how a lump of cash can soothe wounds. Also does anyone know what year they stopped putting the m90 in the euro 635? I found a nice one thats a 1980 w/104 k on the speedo and checked real.com and they said that 1980 had the m30.Also to respond to Alpinacsi i looked at the diff and the back plate that has the mount is broken off so maybe all I have to do is find one of those.I hope this doesn't make me look too ignorant but what is the difference between the diff and LSD and where is trhe LSD cause I know where the diff is. Again thanks everyone

LSD refers to the optional Limited Slip Differential. There are really no external differences and you can see if yours is a LSD by referencing a small metal tag on the diff. If it is a LSD it will typically hve a S before the ratio number on the tag: such as S 3.46. The diff housing should have a white S painted on the top of the housing but this may or may not still be visable.

Even if the diff mount at the chassis is not damaged; with this stress, I would replace it anyway.

Sounds like they made you a fair offer considering you get to keep the car without a salvage title.
