im planning on going for a drive on ortega this weekend, but i would like more insight from members, i have only been on the road 2x and it was during the week. i saw only 1 cop on the 15-20mile drive. how is it on the weekends...and also what about nights. i would love to blast through those roads at night. but has it turned into a speeding trap? thanks

awesome road to have a run on. Not that many cops when i went on a Saturday morning. I wouldn't want to drive that road at night if I had a choice cuz itz only a couple feet and you're off the cliff.

I always hear about people being killed on that road.
Usually bikers like me.
Be careful, very careful.

Bikers leaning over the centerline and surprise panic braking on corners leading to cars being upside down.

There are usually multiple fatal accidents every year.

Drive in control enough that you aren't hugging the centerline on blind corners and that you can stop without spinning in the distance you have within sight.

Defiantly wouldn't recommend that road at night. People burry bodies up there (no joke) and there are phycos on that road at night, probably because they know no one else will be there. I'm not sure about cops, I don’t go up there much since my mom thinks that every 3rd person who drives Ortega dies; so I'm not allowed to drive that.

But what mother doesn't know won't hurt her, right?

  i just got back from camping at casper park today and its like 7.5 miles on ortega. all through the day while I was at the park i could hear harley's and street bikes just cruise down ortega. it's a pretty nice road. the scenery is pretty nice too, but make sure you pay attention to the road and not the scenery. lol

p.s. i hit 75 on Ortega :devillook

I used to work out there....Quest Diagnostic...only damn building out there! i worked there for almost 3 years...of that three years..i had 3 tickets....there are lots of CHPs out there...especially at the bends and around uphill/downhill turns.

all three tickets..i was 2-5 mph over the speed limit! and yes IT'S A DOUBLE FINE ZONE!

it's a nice road...but take it easy..until u really know the road well...then u can open up! i took my M3 out there....wow it was an amazing ride!
