Plagued by a phantom check engine light? Have you had your codes read for free at a chain auto parts store only to reveal something vague?

Have you done work on your car that caused the airbag light to come on?

If so, you should strongly consider owning a scan tool from Peake Research. These tools ARE NOT generic OBDII tools like those found in the auto parts stores. They are purpose built to read BMW-SPECIFIC factory fault codes. OBDII readers only read generic, government-mandated emissions codes (P-Codes). These fault codes can possibly lead you to vague or misleading conclusions about the issues you're facing.

Peake Research tools are, hands down, the industry-standard choice for hand-held scan and reset tools. There are models to work with BMWs from 1987-2003. ('03+ model year compatibility coming soon).

Bimmertools is your common sense source for these tools. Our pricing for Peake's engine code tools (R5-FCXII) is set at manufacturer minimum pricing - $139.95, and domestic shipping is FREE (scan tools only).

Furthermore, we've reduced the pricing on R5-SRS (airbag) tools to just $120.00 (retail $129) with FREE domestic shipping.

Each scan tool includes a free case and user guide. These tools will even reset your oil-service indicator with the push of a button!

Stop guessing about what is causing your check engine light! Click on the photo below, or simply go to www.bmwscantools.com to see read more or order.

Just tried to order one off the website (plus a wheel pin) and got some kind of Microsoft OLE error. Rather than try again (and possibly get charged twice) I gave up on it.

I'm using Firefox by the way.

Send me an email if you'd like me to try again.

Very strange...

Please try again - if you are adding comments, please make sure there are no quote marks or parenthesis. That sometimes sets things off.

If you have further trouble, please email me - alkendesign @ gmail . com and I'll work it out with you.

Thanks for the support, and I'm terribly sorry you're having trouble.

Think I found the problem - working on it...

Sorry!

Ok - I think the problem is solved.

I was getting the same error - I think I found the syntax error and fixed it. Several test orders show it working now.

So sorry for the inconvenience...

A little how-to write up, as well as a comparison to an OBDII reader:

Quotes from a recent thread:

without having the codes read, you're pissing in the wind.

Or a more elegant way of stating it is, "To ask an intelligent question you must already know 90% of the answer". In this case the codes provide the 90%.

Put that on a tee shirt!

I wish I had something clever to say, instead of 'bump'.

We're putting together a Diagnostic Day in Central NJ to demonstrate the Peake Tools - if your check engine light is on, let us know! Date/Location TBD.

Hey Ken,

I know you may not know the answer to this.. but when is Peake going to update their product to handle more recent models? They seem to have stopped development at 2003.

The answer is - very soon. I have set up a notification list for interested owners of current models. Please email me - ken @ bimmertools . com and include a reference to 'new Peake tool' in the subject or body of text. I'll add your name to the list.

In dealing with Peake, we know that they are just working out the final details and issues with the upcoming release. For as many models as the new tool will work for, they are doing extensive testing to ensure it works right when released.

As with our entire Peake Research catalog, we will offer the new tools well below MSRP, and with free domestic shipping.

Thanks for the interest!

You noticed I was running out of witty bump remarks, huh? :)

I would certainly expect it before the end of the year. They are not leaking the hard release date, but I think it'll be sooner than later. As I understand it, they're in the final throws of QC and testing.

Thanks for the free bump. Feel free to stop back in here every 24 hours or so...
