View Full Version : 2007/8 M6 Test Drive
HC11238 07-20-2007, 09:25 AM FYI, I am a newbie.
Wanting to buy a 2008 M6... can't get a test drive in NYC. Are they being a pain or is test driving an M6 impossible?
Am I being ridiculous to even WANT to test drive the M6? I will love it, right?
dello 07-20-2007, 09:54 AM i don't see why they won't let you test drive it in nyc. I know some dealers are selective due to allocation of the m6. They may only have been allocated 3-4 for the year, and they usually reserve it for their high-roller clients. So they make the process even harder. Just put on a nice sport jacket or suit, pretend to be super important, and know all the facts about the car, they let you take it for a brief spin. They not worried about you coming back with it, but more worried about car getting damaged, and it have to auction off.

i dont feel that you should have to dress to impress a person who makes half the value of the car in a year, you either are treated well and they know you can afford it or they lose the sale, have you tried dealers in jersey or conneticut ?
HC11238 07-20-2007, 10:38 AM I leased 2 cars from the same dealer already. BMW of Manhattan only had one 07 M6 on the whole lot and it was being displayed in the showroom.
My salesperson said it was impossible to test drive....
Maybe I will head out to NJ or CT?!
de Witt 07-20-2007, 03:45 PM Go to CA. M6s are sitting on the lots, doing nothing.
I test drove both the M5 and M6 before purchasing an M5. Cant imagine not doing it or a dealer not permitting it. Dealers suck, btw.
dello 07-20-2007, 05:03 PM In nyc it's all about allocation. Unfortunately on the west coast there are more of a selection than others. In nyc dealers are more concern with true sales, as far if you're going to test drive a 107,009 you're going to be certainly buying it. Check greenwich bmw or paul miller in new jersey-alot more buyer friendly. Remember nyc have all these hedgefund guys who kinda spoil the expereince for everyone else.
boomer 33 07-22-2007, 12:49 AM Well I wrote a huge in depth response about test driving my07 M6, but when I sent it the moderator (software, who asked me to contribute) killed the whole message when I submitted it, Seems noobs can't use emoticons.
So , screw it.

Huh? If you have something to contribute to the community, please share it. Bimmerforums do not and will not disallow posts that are inline with the rules of the forum.
I would love to hear what you have to say. PM or just post it.

NOW THAT WE CAN AGREE ON!
They charged me $550 for a RFT (Front-Passenger) replacement. If it wasn't an emergency I would have never purchased from them.
Park Ave is okay, I was just bustin'...
dello 07-25-2007, 08:46 AM Wow! I going to order some new run-flats. Thnaks for the info, I will not go to Morristown. I would like to go Circle BMW, but they are too far. I only go to morristown because it close to my job and I can never make it to the dealers here in ct until weekends.
HC11238 07-28-2007, 12:12 PM Went for the M6 test drive yesterday at Park Avenue. The customer service blew Manhattan out of the water...
Decided to lease the 07- a deal I couldnt refuse. Picking it up in a few hours.
FYI, they tried to upsell me the following:
LOJACK: $895
Wheel/Tire insurance: $1295 (I took this b/c I live in NYC)
Embedded radar detector $2100 (RIP!)- I would rather buy the new Cobra wireless for $500
Simonize/Scotch Guard $500
Monaco Blue, Portland Brown interior, HD Radio, enhanced sound and Sirius (not really interested), Head up display, soft close doors (total waste of $$$) and comf access.

Goto to tirerack for a more reasonable tyre price. But them there and have them shipped to your dealer of choice for an install.
Once I replaced my half-of-grand tyre on the passenger right, I bought three from tirerack and had my dealer install them for $90 bucs. I feel better now.:D
de Witt 07-30-2007, 12:01 PM Ralf Schomp BMW has several M5 and M6 sitting on the lots! They cant give em away.
dello 07-30-2007, 12:14 PM I told you Park Avenue were much better than Manhattan. My freind felt good with his purchase. I guess all bmw sales people are the same, they try to stretch the purchase price as far as they can with all the add-ons. Good luck with your new m6. I went to morristown for some parts and they m6 on sales floor-Man that thing was sweet! I know you will be happy.
NAZ1998BMWM3 07-30-2007, 02:38 PM 996 turbo kills the M6, :(
BHR4CE 1 08-05-2007, 01:59 PM 996 turbo kills the M6, :(
Maybe, but it still looks like a 996 turbo.
:lol
WILDMAN 08-05-2007, 04:54 PM So what about the test drive? The styling on the new 7s sucks so I was thinking about the 6.
