Stop digging up 2+ year old threads, jesus. Do any of you guys doing this even remotely THINK about looking at the dates on the posts? :shifty

Damn noobs can't f*cking read. The BSW thread was resurrected by some twit from TN who just joined this month.

At least he probably found the thread using the search button.

I honestly don't see how it happens. Maybe when it's already on the front page, replies can be excused ;), but when I'm doing a search, I always check the date, and when I notice I'm 800 pages into the subforum, I generally don't bump it.

M3Alpine99

I never read the date of a thread that is at the top.

And I know you rarely do either ken. If it is bumped to the top you don't check the first post for the date?

Bullshit.

Whats the problem? Maybe someone had the same problem as a 2 year old thread and the OP never posted back. By bumping it maybe someone can see it and respond with the solution to that problem.

If it's already been bumped by some other idiot who bumped it to the top, then perhaps I will post without realizing it's old as hell. I'm saying, dipshit, DON'T REPLY TO THREADS WHERE THE LAST FUCKING POST WAS YEARS AGO!!!!! Is this really THAT hard of a concept to understand?

Does doing this start a count down to server distruction or something? I don't understand what the big deal is. If someone bumps a thread that is of interest to them and not to you, don't read it and/or bump it. It's that simple.
If someone started a NEW thread about the same topic, people would be bit**ing that they didn't do a search.

This has nothing to do with bumping an old problem. That would be a good excuse in the technical forum. Or maybe I could see someone bumping an old tint thread and asking "how has your tint held up in the past two years" But this was about test fitting audio into cars from two years ago. I am really wondering what his search terms were to find that thread.

It was actually 2 threads, that one, and one started by Leif in like, 2004, that kinda set me off. Both threads pertaining to nothing in 2007. Leif now lives in CA anyways.

only one thing worse than that, and thats posting a thread about old threads and their new posters.

I don't think I defeated my own argument at all. I've done it a couple of times, posted in a thread that somebody bumped to the top from sometimes 5+ years ago. It happens. The person who bumped it to the top should be the one asked why. Say, for instance, Kelly Childress's post about selling E30 interior parts from years ago, and somebody asking if he had seats for sale as if the post was recent :eyecrazy

Actually if you look at the last post date.. That would be today, not 2 years old. I even looked at this thread and thought "wow, when did I miss this thread"

They can be full of relevant, or irrelevant information. However, they are usually fairly time-correct, whereas old threads are not.

I am suppose to lock all threads that venture too far off topic. I think I have been very lenient in that regard. I let most threads go until they have run their course.

I am also suppose to tow or lock all threads that have no bearing on Georgia and/or BMW's...

The thread from Jason was 100% irrelevant. The thread from Kelly was 100% irrelevant. Both due to age and nothing more. Get a grip dude. Look at the damn post, and actually THINK before you bump an old post.

Why are some of you guys really this dense? I guess I need to spell it out. Not ALL old threads are worthless. Lets go back to the E36 section years ago when people though removing VANOS was a good thing, or removing intake baffles, etc. We now know this is WRONG, and bumping these old-ass threads brings up irrelevant, old, BAD information. All I'm saying is read and actually think before bumping an ancient thread. Not all old posts are correct, or even relevant, to information available today.
