hey yall, i just got a e34 535iM this weekend, i want toput on a smaller steering wheel, i really like the e36 3 spoke like in the ebay auction below but if i get an airbag for it, would it work if the e34? of even the e36 m3 wheel if it's smaller?

Its not just bolt on and go, but its possible.

Early model E34s used E30-style splines on the steering wheel. This was up until 91 I think. After that, they are compatible with E36 wheels.

More important though, is airbag functionality (if that concerns you). The first wheel pictured was offered in 1995 E34s. I think those had a different airbag system from your current system. Last thing you want is an airbag not going off (or going off) at the wrong time. Check into the part numbers for the actual airbag and see if they match.

Maybe somone here has a more definite answer for you.

hey guys, thanks alot for the input. i definatly love the e36 3spoke and it is an older car. still debating on how much an airbag means to me.

so pretty much the e36 m3 wheel is a bolt on?
