I recently purchashed an 07 Z4 roadster and want to install carbon fiber dash and console trim. I have not found an aftermarket trim that comes close to the BMW accessory look. Does anyone know who supplies the factory? I doubt they build it in house. Is there a US dealer that sells discounted parts? I want the look but have trouble justifying the $1,665 cost for the factory parts. GH

Are you talking about the carbon "leather" available on the Z4M or are you referring to a factory carbon "fiber" offering for the Z4?

For the Z4. GH

What trim do you have in there now? Someone may want to trade, or buy what you have to offset some of the cost of the carbon Fiber inserts.

I think he wants the CF trim from the MZ4s

it isnt carbon fiber, its carbon leather, its like a woven pattern in leather, and not like...well.. carbon fiber

what about the dash and console trim pieces that are available through the dealership... they are very expensive... i think that's what he's talking about. :)

as some1 else iterated the issue seems to be does he want:
1) carbon fiber trim
2) carbon fiber *look* leather trim

#2 is what is offered in the Z4M.
BMW does not offer a factory trim option for the Z4 with any actual carbon fiber.
I'd assume he is referring to #2 & just hasn't explicated that fact.

To the OP, you can wrap the stock trim in leather for ~$500. To wrap it & have the stitching to match the rest of the vehicle would be significantly more expensive. I'm considering the latter.

Feyd understands what I am looking for (The Carbon fiber dash trim offered by BMW for the Z4 not the M). The dealer wants $1,665 MSRP + 8% tax. If I could find an out of state dealer that discounts accessorys 20% and avoid paying sales tax my savings would be almost $500! Again my question is- Does anyone know of a US dealer that discounts accessories? GH

Grab a Roundel Magazine, check the back for dealership part discounts, theres a couple in there. Grab the part number and call them up, see what they can do for you.

A kaup, Thanks. I'll do that.

KAPACOKA, The only pic I have seen is on BMW's North America site. I tried to post the link but I guess I have to have the moderator's permission. The chain is, BMW NA- Vehicles Z4 I roadster- Accessories- View accessories for this model (middle of page)- Interior- Trim. Not much of a picture. I have found a couple of guys selling real CF overlays for 1/3 BMW's price but they are not molded and only apply to the flat part of the dash panel. You would see the edge of my silver dash. I'd rather pay more for a part that looks like it was always there than try to save a few bucks and end up with a part that looks (is) added on. Thanks All, GH

Thanks gearl. I called them and they were $250 less than MSRP and no tax making the total almost $400 less than local. Only one problem, they could only find 1/2 of the parts I need and it was in Germany. Thanks again. GH

Some one else gave my this link a while ago from the Z3 message board when i had a 2002 Z3 i have saved a lot of money buying from them sorry they could not help. I once asked my local Stealer why the are so overpriced from what i can buy online they said because they can. Apparently they can get whatever markup they want for the parts. It is bad when one of the largest parts wharehouse for BMW is right in my backyard in Jacksonville Florida which provides parts for the whole Southeast but yet it is cheaper to buy them over the internet and pay for shipping then to go to the local BMW dealer and buy them.
