well time to decide what to do for more nudge in the eta.
ebay turbo kit with a few modifications? ie = different turbo, management, etc
or
the 2.7 to 2.8 stroker DIY from strictlyeta.net
which is basically the "I" dual valves, cams, and pistons, etc
raising it to a 2.8l.

debate?
lol
:D

Dont listen to Cal, Stroke that bish. :)

I'm with Cal on this one.

You probably won't realize your goals with the small change in displacement since there is so much more potential that you can get out of the motor and most of it will remain untapped by simply stroking it.

Boost is addictive. :D

easy nick... HAHAHA

I would LOVE to FI my E36.. but I have different plans for it in the near future... and boost is addictive, and I dont have THAT kind of money to play with...

all depends on what you want out of the car and your goals... need more info to help with decision...

FI first, realize you dont have enough power, then STROKE that bish later on, when you REALLY want to turn up the BOOST!!!

Are you going to go for it all and try for the 220 hp if you go with the stroker?

yah, if i was going to stroke it, i was going to take the head to head hunters for a full head job and nice pistons.
:nono lmao that sounds wrong..:stickoutt

but in all honesty boost is fun!! i had a couple of turbo cars (civics and 240s)
never really had a NA built car.
hmmmm alll motor with ITBs?
i think it would be sick but very custom.
probally make one just like i did with the 86 corolla with motorcycle throttle bodies :D

or maybe boost and stroked?
hmmmmmmmmmmmm

goals will be smile on the face just like this ------->:D

Boost and stroke if you can!!!!!! Don't go with the ebay turbo kit. They are failing everyone who installs them. Do some research.

You can piece your own kit together for cheaper. I would go with 666 fab for the headers and then source the rest of the stuff fairly cheap.

Check out e30tech.com for a lot of turbo info.

yah im on e30tech already and r3v.
but that 666 manifold is crazy expensive!!
even the adapter to use the stock manifold is ok price. i believe it was $399 for the adapter? and like $700 for the manifold.
than injectors, plugs, wastegate, turbo, bov, pipes, fmic, dp, oil lines, etc.
i heard good things and bad things about the ebay turbo.
but i did hear nothing but excellent things about the fmic piping kit from ebay. +1
i know the ebay manifold cracks under weight and the turbo does suck a tad.
but i figure a little extra welding and bracing for the manifold should be ok.
just upgrade the turbo to a t3/t4 and use everything else from that kit.
get some megasquirt and find a tuner in hawaii..which i believe will be hard. lol
but the thought of going turbo on the eta stock (cept injectors, AFM, and HG)
and only having a revlimit of 5k is and will be pretty sucks.
for that i would have to use a small turbo to get the boost fast. even with a chip, it will raise it to 5.5k but than again i have to consider the valve floats and etc.
gahhhhhhhhh

Brian - Owen F. has a hybrid eta/i motor in his E30. Ray Korman built that motor for him.

Are there really that many engine swapped BMWs out there that it's easy?

in the E30 chassis.. the S52 has become so common, there are MULTIPLE DIY's and even kits you can buy to swap the S52 (3.2 I6 from OBDII E36 M3's)
into the E30's...

the S62 from the E39 M5 was a joke, but I've seen weirder stuff done.. that would be CRAZY..

there are a LOT of easy motor swaps though... all depends on what you want to do

lol how bout a m50 with boost than?
lol
jk
but i think i wanna play around with the m20 for a bit.
after all they are pretty reliable motors with the proper tune.
and i can always get my hands on a nice SR for cheap.
i already watched the thread with the guy putting the SR in his e30.
saved his pictures with the motor mounts. now to just study them and make them just like his. :cool
but than i seen the thread with the RB26 motor. WOW..impressive.
but that took a lot of fab and money to do that one. but sick none the less.

i think im going to do the simple way first. ebay turbo kit that sucker with MS.
boost it around ehhhh 12-14psi. see how she goes. than ill just swap the motor or see what damage is done to the m20. if its minor than ill just do the I head conversion and slap the turbo back on it. :redspot

Why mess with the S52, 54 go LS1 and you'll have way more fun!
And it doesn't weigh all that much more than the straight 6, plus the weight will be further back for better balance.
Of course you'll need to do some suspension mods as well, but if you're gonna do, then do it Big & right!
Check out the Engine Conversion forum and run yourself nutz!

Plus it's a whole heck of a lot cheaper, so much so that you might as well go LS6 :stickoutt

hahha... NOT in my E30.. my E30 is a piece of shit...

but I do want to find an 89-90 325e or i coupe, in good condition, so I can swap the S52 into later....

when I say later, as in, I have my house, established financially... blah blah blah.... but that IS a project I want to tackle later... would be an AWESOME little toy
