I just acquired a 325 i Vert (1989). I am starting from the beginning with maintenance issues. First on the list is replacement of the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and thermostat.

Would you recommend replacing the fuel pump at this time as well?

What other issues would you suggest I address at this time or in the near future?

If I do replace the fuel pump, how much would the pump and labor run (approx.)?

Thanks from a newbie of one week!

Congratulations! :)

Of course no, the fuil pump lasts for several hudreds of thousands Km's, so there is no need to replace it every time you replace your oil :)

You're welcome!

P.S. Does your BMW really has timing belt? What engine does it have? If it is M50 - there is a chain that doesn't need to be replaced often.

No need to replace fuel pump...yes, his E30 has a timing belt - it's the M20 engine

As far as other items to consider replacing...front main oil seal and camshaft seal while you have the timing belt off might be a good idea but that adds time to the job...might try searching over on the E30 board for more suggestions...
