I am selling my 1997 540 since I bought an e46 M3.

The car has 134k miles on it. Black on Black with 18" M-pars - no rash on the wheels! The car has the fold-down 60/40 rear seat, heated power front seats/mirrors, heated steering wheel and everything works.

The car runs great and doesn't smoke or use any oil. Oil has been changed every 3k miles since I have owned it. NO pixel problems at all!

Depot AE headlights and a home made CAI are the only mods. The car does not have cats on it, but there is NO check engine light as the post cat O2s are in clean air. I DO have a set of replacement cats that go with the car - the whole section, not weld in cats! That way you will have a set of "test" pipes and a set of cats for the car. 2 bolts in the front and one in the rear and they can be changed out easily! The precat O2s were recently replaced as well as the tranny and diff fluids. The lower control arms and upper control arm bushings were also replaced recently.

The car made 281 rwhp and 306 rwtq on a Dynojet - as it sits now. The only thing it may need soon is a new set of rear tires - they are not worn out but are worn more than the front.

Asking $11,500 OBO - not in a hurry to sell so no thanks to lowball offers. PM me for more pics or questions. Dyno graph added below for the non-believers.

There's no way you're making that kind of power with only a hot air intake and no cats. In fact, you probably have less than stock power because that intake is sucking in the hot air from your very-hot M62. I might believe your power numbers if they were at the crank.

Skepticism aside, it's a beautiful car, and I'd love to buy it if I had the cash. Good luck with the sale.

You must have a factory freak. :help

Wish my M60 would do that. Maybe it will, at least proportional to the smaller displacement. :devillook

Awesome car man. I've always wanted a black on black 540. Just can't seem to break that 10k mark.

I purchased a bone stock one with 155k on it from 9500, which was a great deal - but this thing has awesome wheels, light upgrades, and IMO is worth the asking price.

For all the non-believers, here is a dyno graph.

HP and TQ same at 5252...

horsepower = torque X rpm / 5252

torque = horsepower X 5252 / rpm

where was this dyno done?

Nice car, I wish it had been around when I bought mine 6 months ago. I ended up with black-tan even though I really wanted the black-black :( Oh well, still an extremely fun car! This one is very clean, good luck

good luck with your sale but that dyno is def. wrong i had mine dynoed at 265HP to the wheels and 296 Torque, Engine Chip, Intake High flow Cats, no resonator and Magnaflow Exhaust system. That dyno probably added 10% to your wheels

Well, thanks for jumping on the bandwagon and adding even more credibility to my for sale thread, Andre. So, since we are OT, please elaborate on what it is that makes you such an expert on MY car, or even cars in general.

I personally have been playing with cars for 25-30 years and have had several high performance cars in the past - and I am not talking about a 250-300 whp bimmer - I mean a car with 450-600 whp. How many have you had?? And yes, it is an accurate dyno - my competely stock 01 M3 vert made 267 whp on the same dyno - you gonna argue that? AND the 540 is faster than the M3 - proven that several times with good drivers in both cars.

As for your bolt-on mods, many times I have seen cars modded like yours make less hp on a dyno than before the mods. I however, will not offer my opinion on your car here as I don't know you or your car.

I posted a car for sale on this forum and I stated the facts about the car. I have nothing to gain by deceiving anyone. The car will sell itself. Will everyone please keep their negativity to themselves and out of my for sale thread.

Thank you:mad

wow talk about issues, all im telling you your DYNO sheet is wrong( which could mean it was cheating or it was not calibrated properly), because if it were right it would mean you gained 30HP from a cold air intake and no cats.:lol :lol:lol:lol:lol

And all I am telling you is that you are wrong. No other issues than that. Please keep your opinions out of my thread.
