My 2000 E46 has 109k miles and im debating on selling it. If serviced and oil changed every 8K miles how many miles do you think I have left on the car. Generally, for this car how many miles are left in the tank before I run it to the ground. Keep in mind, no major work was done to the engine besides a motor head replacement.

well the only thing that might go out is the suspension, regulators and transmission. besides that it will last you over 200k+ easy

You forgot the cooling stuff. Water pump, thermostat, expansion tank.
Take care of it, do the scheduled inspections to catch problems before they become BIG problems, and it'll last a long time. If it doesn't come back to the forums and we'll help ya out :)

Good Stuff, I've already had my water pump and thermostat changed. I just hate going for repairs on these cars. The Dealership is SO EXPENSIVE! I might just hold on to the car now. Thanks for the info.

DIY, bmw seems one of the easiest cars to work with. I did my control arms and bushings, pretty simple to do.

Once the car is out of warranty, there isn't any incentive to visit a dealer. Find a good local independent BMW repair shop. Ask for recommendations in your area. When you find a shop, let them change your oil, radiator flush, belts, or spark plugs. Something simple, even if you normally do those things yourself. You can introduce yourself and it will give you an idea of their workmanship.
