My uncle bought a Z06 from a friend of his who was transferred out of the country earlier this year. He let me drive it a little bit and it was a very impressive car.

The weak points were a pretty typical GM interior. Everything else was to be expected with this type of car. What I mean by that is obvious stuff, like I hate doors that long, and so forth.

The strong points. Holy crap is that thing fast. When I say it is fast I mean it is ridiculous. I have been luck enough to drive RUF Porsche's, Twin Turbo Porsche's and some Ferrari's. This is the fastest freaking street cat I have ever driven. And it gets 28 mpg on the highway! It was a suprisingly nice car to tool around in too.

I think its amazing, but for the money i would easily go for a better looking (german) car. That is considering that i wouldnt put the car on the track. Other than that ive only heard good things, and the fact that it gets 28 mpg is insane!

How did it compare speed wise to the Porsche and Ferrari you have driven? I had a 400HP ford lightning and that truck was fast...

28 mpg ? Is this the C5 or the C6 Z06 ?

My C5 Z06 gets about 30 mpg on highway.

The new Z06 is officially EPA rated at 28mpg on the highway:

Im thinking of selling my 98 e36 m3 for a 2002 zo6 with Blackwheels on black and red/black interior 36k for 26,000$. I rode in a 2002 1 time and it was just rediculacly fast, and handled incredably. What you all think would you sell your mint 98 m3 thats modded very well for a 2002 zo6? My 98 has 85k the zo6 is only 36k so thats a huge plus, the extra 10k Id have to fork up is a huge negative lol.
Anyone know how reliable these cars are and how long they will run for? How much maintenance is on them and so on?

It is a C6.

It has more low end grunt than the Ferrari and more high end than the Porsche's. Maybe more than both. I have not driven any of the 997 based turbo's yet though and they are supposed to be great.

Hell yes, DOO it. E36 M3's are played out anyways. If you can afford without pain do it then.

They are two different types of cars. Its pointless to even try to compare the two.

My buddy bought a regular '08 C6 for $39K. His first run, bone stock was 12.4, but this thing pulled even more insanely on the highway. Just a regular, garden variety Vette. That's Value.

The `08 regular C6 LS3 (430 HP/424 torque) has more HP & torque than the C5 Z06. I can't wait till I can afford one. Should I sell my boat to buy one? Right now I'm saying yes, but come spring I'll be singing another tune I'm sure.

Aint no fun (waiting round to become a millionaire)!!!

I would sell a boat for a Vette in a heartbeat.

Trust me, I think about it. I've always heard, the best part about a boat is the day you buy it and the day you sell it. They are like swimming pools, fun to have and use, but damn expensive. Kind of like modding these BMW's.
Hey, at least the boat has a LS1 engine in it, it has the vette power but on water!

I love how people rant about its 28mpg on the high way...Most of these tool bags are getting 4-5mpg because they floor it ever light.

The Z06 is a complete monster. I remember hot rodding one in my valet days. It's got power from ANY RPM. Check out the video where Jeremy Clarkson does 0-160 in fifth gear. It is cheesy inside, though. And it seems really wide, which makes it awkward to drive. Oh, and the shifter feels like it came out of an 18 wheeler.

But seriously, this car really impressed me. I drove Ferrari 355s, 360s, 575Ms, Aston Martin Vantage and Vanquish, Lamborghini Murcielago and Diablo VT, Porshe 911 turbos, etc. and nothing has the low end grunt and feels as fast as this car, except for the V8 AMG Benz's. My 2 cents...

Hey Mr. Douche, I get 30-33 MPG and still get to floor it every once in a while. That is mostly highway but a few City (as in San Francisco/hills) miles. How'd you like them apples?

I didn't notice his mention of the performance exhaust. Truthfully, his "sentence" was hard to read.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned putting that awesome powerplant in an e36. Its the perfect match if you can live with an american engine in your car. For that match, i know i can.

Z06s are well rounded cars for the money, you can find them for low 20s now

My last setup was a 449ci LS2 and I would get 27mpg on the highway, gotta love the tall ass 6th gear.
