Does anybody have a part number for the euro expansion tank bracket or frame on a LHD car. Or a picture would help also.
Thanks,

That is the expansion tank. I messed up my post but edited it. I am looking for the bracket that holds the tank it is not listed at realoem or on etk. Thank you though you did answer the original question.

This should help:

http://www.racepad.com/proj/racepad_m3/euro_motor_project/euro_motor_project.htm

Scroll down to "Mount Expansion Tank".

Are you using this with US motor, or euro conversion?

You need two brackets, one on firewall. The other mounts on strut tower, the
stock US bracket on strut tower will need to be removed, the euro part does
double duty for the expansion tank and diag port.

Bracket p/n's

41 11 2 491 298
41 12 2 256 492

Both can be found on realoem and etk. Ordered mine through Pelican Parts,
took about two weeks to get, and they were also very inexpensive.

Assuming you mount it the way Racepad did in the link above and cut the diagnostic plug half of the bracket off since there's already one welded your shock tower, here's a tip: mount it further away from the engine and slightly down than if you were to line up the new bracket with the existing one. The tank will press up against the diagnostic plug if you dont. Also mount the rear bracket 'lower' to drop the whole tank further into the battery tray. Euro cars have a carbon cannister under the tank which you don't need to worry about.

I used pop rivets and 5 minute epoxy to mount mine and it's pretty sturdy. Wish I could redo it and put it lower, I might eventually.

Thanks that helps. I was looking at the wrong diag. on etk and realoem. I don't have a euro motor but I have an PWR radiator and a spal fan so I didn't want the fan shroud anymore.

Same reason I went with the euro tank, 50mm PWR. Your next issue will be
plumbing. I bought the euro tank from Bimmerworld, who were totally useless
regarding installation, plumbing, etc. I ended up fabbing a coolant pipe similar
to the euro piece.

No reason to ditch the fan shroud, kept mine.

Frankly, if I were to do it again, I'd use a Canton tank.

Is the Racepad installation in the factory correct location? Mounted mine lower
than their installation.

I'm not familiar with canton... is that a third party source/mfgr of a overflow/expansion tank?

Edit: And why would you not use the factory tank?

X2?? Who is canton? I bought my Euro expansion tank a long time ago but never got around to installing it. Does anyone have the part numbers for the hoses?

Canton makes aluminum coolant reservoirs which use NPT or AN fittings. I run one in my race car and my main coolant line has been converted to AN as you can see.

One of the advantages is being able to run a higher pressure cap as well.

In front of this is my PS reservoir.

Same idea as the prior post....

(except, I really went to town with my cage.... I subscribe to a different theory of securing suspension points..... I put 3 bars to any place that matters wherever possible. It then is fixed much like the end of a tripod, and can not move or pivot at all. No need for the strut bar this way. But I recognize this thread is not about cage design, and someone is thinking, they save weight by not doing as I did)
