I just bought an e92 328 and have owned it for two months. I have about 4500 miles on it and the brakes sqweak when I stop... is that normal? I was told that the brakes would wear out fast but I didn't think it would that fast. Is this covered under the maintenance program? Thanks for your help!

Squealing isn't worn out. Odds are there is just lots of dust in there. Go to a car wash and use the sprayer to really clean out the calipers.

Worn out is a harsh scraping sound as you apply the brakes and throughout the entire time the brakes are applied, like metal on metal. Any two things that rub together can squeak. There's probably some form of lubricant between the rotors and brake pads as Beer Goggles suggests. It might even be the morning rust being wiped off the rotors if it only happens the first few times you use them every day.

BMW OEM brakes are known to be squeaky. Does that happen maily when the brakes are still cold and disappears after several applications, or is it always there. I believe it has to do with the material used in the pads which can cause squeaking, which is normal, albeit a bit annoying. Not a big deal if it is occasional and usually goes away after a while.

It happens quite oftenly and I just thought I would need to get my brake pads replaced. It doesn't just happen in the morning or when I first drive it. It happens throughout the day. I will check for brake dust and try cleaning it to see if that works. Thanks!

If that doesn't improve, you might have a case to take to your dealer and have the pads replaced under warranty. Usually they claim this is normal, but if it happens all the time and you complain hard enough that it is annoying as hell, they might bend and replace em.
Good Luck.
