okay long story short. my girlfriend has a friend with a 99 5 series. they got a flat, jacked it up and took the lugs off. the wheel wont come off. i dont know much about this car but is there something else that needs to be done to get the wheel off. tia.

Which wheel? Rear? Make sure the parking brake is off. Front? Hit the side of the tire with the palm of your hand. Sometimes they get "rust welded". A couple quick pops should break it loose.

same shit happened to me...except it was my own car...i had to take off all the lugs, and i pulled the shit out of it and it still woudlnt come off..

i ended up having to put one lug back on about 1/4 of the way...lowered the car...took off the jack and then turned the wheel left and right all the way...then it poped off, prob wasnt the best thing to do but it saved me 200 dollars getting it towed..just make sure you have at least one lug on so when the tire gets poped off (rust) it doesnt land your car on the ground..then jack it up again and take it off...was a pain in the ass.

Using the weight of the car to break the wheel free is best done with all lugs in place, but slightly loose.

Throughly cleaning all corrosion from centering ring on the hub and applying a smear of anti-sieze there will help lots in preventing the wheel from siezeing in the future.

They make disks that slide over the hub allowing the rim to come right off the car. I recommend them, especially if you have to change a flat on a busy road. Check BAVAUTO, they sell them. I can't recommend them enough.

BTW: Here in Dallas a police officer was struck and killed waiting in his patrol unit while a BMW couple tried to remove their flat tire from their BMW. Sad story, I bet they couldn't get the rim off the car.

Left jabs with an open fist works well.

Like said above though, if you don't 'break' (loosen) the lugs while the car is on the ground, then you have no business changing a tire in the first place.

I think it's a great idea for women to have AAA or related car assistance etc. I see so many cars over the years, the owner tried to break the lugs while the car was jack up and BOOM, the car slides off the jack and crashes the small, but expensive 12" to the ground. Or they jack it up on soggy grass/mud and wonder why the same result took place.

Break the lugs first, jack up, remove all five lugs and if the wheel is stubborn, show it who is boss, it'll come off.

put anti seize compound on it when you put it back on.

I always carry a rubber mallet in the car. Comes in handy for offing even the stubbornest hookers.
