View Full Version : wire width of 135i ningshao 07-06-2007, 02:19 PM seems to be around 205 in some fotos, any explainations? mikeo 07-08-2007, 08:34 AM ?? murdoc158 07-08-2007, 01:36 PM ?? I think the OP meant tire (not wire) width. A 205 series tire is probably on one of the "cheaper" 1 series like a 123d or something with 16" wheels. All those photos you have seen are the European model. When the 1 series hits the US, we should get 16" wheels standard on the 128i; 17" with the sport package. The 135i will come with 18" wheels standard (135i is said to include the sport package from the factory). mikeo 07-08-2007, 05:44 PM Oh, OK. The 135i will have 215x40-18 front and 245x35-18 rear. Don't know about the 128i. Roffle Waffle 07-09-2007, 12:12 AM I'm guessing its gonna have a z4 setup, unless mikeo knows something...... so 225 18 up front, and 255 on rear M3zie 07-10-2007, 10:26 AM I've heard 255 rear, so I'm assuming a 8.5" wheel. Fronts will probably be a 7.5" wheel with 215 or 225. mikeo 07-10-2007, 10:40 AM German/UK specs clearly state 215x40-18/7.5 front and 245x35-18/8.5 rear. M3zie 07-10-2007, 11:35 AM German/UK specs clearly state 215x40-18/7.5 front and 245x35-18/8.5 rear. Cool. Too bad they skimped out and put a 215 tire on the 7.5" wheel. The 135i is just begging for a 18x9.5/18x8.5 staggered setup. mikeo 07-10-2007, 01:11 PM Cool. Too bad they skimped out and put a 215 tire on the 7.5" wheel. The 135i is just begging for a 18x9.5/18x8.5 staggered setup. Agreed. 215 is really wimpy for a front engine performance car. That and no LSD will kill the 135i in SCCA Solo stock class. It may do well in a Street Touring class against the Japanese boost buggies, but it will need a LSD upgrade to do so. Someone will have to Build a Bavarian Boost Buggy... :D mikeo 07-10-2007, 03:08 PM Someone will have to Build a Bavarian Boost Buggy... :D God, I hope that the dreaded MODBUG doesn't totally decimate me. I already did the $30K N/A E36 M3 thing.:( HaraM3 07-12-2007, 06:49 PM No LSD is really a buzzkill, and you're spot on that it will be especailly so for auto-x stock class. I think we need to start the push (massive whining) now to get BMW NA to throw one on there by the second model year. gearhead1 07-12-2007, 09:53 PM Crap -- no LSD...? Any aftermarket sources? I'm saving now. I want the 135i coupe, software from Vishnu and some fat rear wheels to put all that power down... No LSD takes away some of that fun! With enough pissing and moaning they may give us a performance model or ZHP with the LSD. But it would be hard to do much better than a regular 135i without totally killing 335 and/or M3 sales. There should be plenty of aftermarket options. There's a 335 LSD already available for like $1100ish. mikeo 07-12-2007, 10:56 PM With enough pissing and moaning they may give us a performance model or ZHP with the LSD. Turner's is several times that price -- YIKES! gearhead1 07-13-2007, 04:09 PM Yeah -- I saw the Vishnu 335i with the Quaife LSD and hoped a similar item would be available for the 135i. $1,100 seems resonable. Beyond that, and it seems like someone could do a custom job... Turner's price is STEEP ~$3,400!!! : http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=100-100-00008 Damn. M3zie 07-16-2007, 08:23 PM Do you have a source for that $1100 LSD? Turner's is several times that price -- YIKES! I saw it a month or so ago on one of these forums...I'll try and find it. But $3400? Thats a bit of a curveball. Considering it would probably void the warranty, not sure if it's worth it. Turner is usually pretty high though. Maybe with time there will be a few options. mikeo 07-16-2007, 08:44 PM OK, thanks. |
