I have a 1995 525i that has a vaccum leak at or around the port on the backside of the intake manifold where the idle speed motor hose connects to. Is there an o-ring that that fits around this plastic insert. Also on the crankcase vent that inserts into the valve cover, does this have an o-ring too?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, they both have O-Rings. Here is a picture of the part that connects the ICV hose to the Intake:

Be real careful pulling or you can break the plastic retaining tab. I've broken two in the last 5 months. At my dealer, the whole connector with a new O-Ring costs as much as the O-Ring alone, go figure....

one time in my e36 while starting I let off the key too soon and it didn't start, but it back fired a little. The back fire blew that part off the intake. The car ran but barely. I had to have it towed as I had no idea what to look for.

Thanks for the replies. I hear a vacuum hiss at this area and I am not sure if this is normal. I introduced smoke from my EVAP tester into the port for the brake booster and didnt see anything coming out of that area. I really dont want to pull this if not needed. The whole reason for the vacuum hunt is the car failed exhaust emission on the idle portion of the test. HC was 251 @731 rpm and the CO 1.06. As soon as you raise it up to approximately 1000 rpm it cleans up the HC to 128 and the CO to .32. High rpm 2428 readings are 81 HC and .27 CO. I still need to check the oxygen sensor count at idle to see if it is fluctuating between .2 and .8 volts. One other question, will this car pass the emissions test if on catalytic converter is empty? I took the muffler/resonator off and one has spewed its guts out and is totaly empty. There is a crease on the bottom of it which may have resulted in cracking the catalyist that resulted in its demise. I have had cars in the past pass emissions with no problem and didnt have anything in the converter.
