Yes,

Just thought I'd share my experience of pushing an E36 uphill on a driveway and sprint to pull up the hand brakes is really a giant bitch by yourself in this sweltering heat.

The overhead door entrance to my shop is slightly uphill. Its a bitch, i know your pain...especially since most cars dont run, come and leave on flatbeds since I try and stick only to fab work....keeps headaches down that way haha. Who needs the gym when you can push bmw's

ARGH. am I missing something? I disconnect the bolt to the front knuckle to the control arm, but the damn thing wont come out of the knuckle. I'm prying the damn thing and it won't come out....am I missing something? :pissed:

Everything I do to this car that is supposed to be easy is not :complain

You mean you disconnect the bolt on the balljoint on the lower control arm? If we're talking about the balljoints, you'll have to use a pickle fork unless they have been serviced recently. Mind, a pickle fork may [will] fuck up your balljoint, so you had better be replacing them. I personally feel its a good idea to replace them anyways if they have over 80~100k.

try putting the nut back on it (upside down if its a castle nut) so that its flush with the stud. Give it a whack with a small sledge. It should come out. I dont like using pickle forks, I always tear the rubber boots.

So i'm assuming when I put the new ones in, I once again use BFH to bang it into place from the bottom of the control arm?

Next time grab a tire chuck so you can just throw that behind the tire rather than running for the ebrake.

The control arm ball joints are tapered so they can be a PITA to get off sometimes.

Yeah, I got that bitch off. Now do I just BFH bang it back into place?

Its amazing how LOOOSE the old ball joints are on the old control arm compared to the new ones I just ordered.

Err no don't use the BFH to put them on..

I normally use the BFH to get them off. THEN I have a small bottle jack I gently jack the control arm up so its under pressure..Tightens it up enough to crank them down to spec.

Pushing it up the driveway....not so bad.

i pushed my new control arms by hand. and i took the old ones off with a nice little tap with the sledge hammer. and im pretty damn skinny so the control arms might slide in.
