Some guy emails me and tells me that $17k is to much for any e36 m3 and that I have lost touch with reality for asking that much :embarrasm. For those of you that have seen my car, how much should I ask?

Dude, don't even let that jackass get to you! You're car is gorgeous!! I saw it on the drive last weekend for the first time in person and loved it.

It did remind me of my '99 though.:(

Your price is reasonable and I wouldn't budge on it until you find the right buyer who is as serious as you are about selling it. I bought my '96 a few months ago for $18k, granted it was completely stock with only 49k....but still, yours is tastefully modded and looks great!

Sorry to hear you're selling it, but good luck!

Great lookin' car. You've done a lot of the things I hope to do.

Here is my $.02 on the pricing of any car:

If you are asking more than Kelly Blue Book you pretty much limit yourself to people who can pay cash for the car and who put a premium value on the car, mods, etc.

The problem with asking more than KBB is that a lender typically won't loan you much over that value because they know what value the insurance companies will cover. If they were to lend someone $15k to buy a car with a KBB value of $13k and then the car gets totaled, the lender is out $2K.

I would say if you are patient and wait for the right buyer who values your car, the condition it's in and the great mods you've done, you'll get the price you feel is fare.

If you're in more of a hurry to sell it, I think it will be tough to get much more than a few hundred +/- KBB.

Good luck with your sale.

Yeah, I am in no rush to sell it so, I will just wait around for the right buyer. I mean I am open to offers, so Its not like he couldnt have just offered less. Instead he had to be an asshole about it.

Here is the Email I recieved.

Nice car, but you appear to have lost touch with reality.

I'm not going to "lowball" your price, but a DEALER could get 15K for that car....maybe.

I appreciate that you've done a bunch of work and spent a bunch of money (and maybe overpaid for the car to begin with) but rules are rules, you never get out what you put in....you do it for you and eat it when you sell.

Good luck...I'll wait and see.

:rolleyes This guy looks like he just has too much time on his hands. Some people are jerks. The only way they win is if we let them get us down.

Again, good luck.

Dude, Check Autotrader. There are tons of E36 M3s for sale. Dude my car has 52K with full Dinan Supercharger. It is a 96 so that makes a difference and a dealership owner who is a good friend advised KBB state my car is only worth about 10K. You never know you might get lucky. I doubt it.

Great car, do NOT lower your price. The right buyer is a must with M cars, he/she will surface. KBB is not for bimmers.
