Hi i'm new to the forum and to owning a BMW I have a 528i 1985 model that I recently bought dirt cheap is in excellent condition, although will not start.

I have put a new battery in it and when I turn the key to start it, it does nothing and a check warning comes up on the dash.

Could someone shed some light on this please? As I said I am completely new to BMW's but have worked on many pre-fuel injected cars before.

i don't think there was a 1985 528i.....you probably have an E.....did you check the starter?.....try jumping the battery directly to the starter
