View Full Version : Dealer discount on BMW parts
Matsui 06-27-2007, 10:30 AM Can anyone here get me dealer discount for parts in md/va/dc area? Tischer BMW is doing 20% discount only on online orders or for BMWCCA members. I would prefer to do a pickup to avoid shipping cost and also make sure I'm getting the right things.
Let me know if anyone can help.
Thanks.

Matsui 06-27-2007, 11:04 AM I called and insisted, but the parts guy refused. Said they are pushing to move online orders.
fmcfad01 06-27-2007, 11:15 AM I usually go to www.BMWoftheMainLine.com and print out their online price, then show up at their parts counter and request that price. They always give it to me. Granted this is no help at all to you because BMW of the main line is in Philadelphia, but you might try this tactic.
Matsui 06-27-2007, 11:34 AM Last time that's what I did at one dealership, but the parts guy said he won't do it next time (as if its coming out of his pocket :rolleyes )
fmcfad01 06-27-2007, 12:14 PM Yeah, sometimes the parts guys act tough. I went in there to pick up the flex disc I ordered. It was $9 less online. I asked for the price online but didn't have the printout and he said, well its not going to be that cheap ($80.xx). I said, 'oh yes it is, let me get my printout from the car.' I went out to my car, got the printout, and handed it to him. He didn't say anything, printed me a receipt for $80.xx, and took it over to the cashier.
Then there is the opposite side of the spectrum. A nice guy named John works the parts counter and if you are lucky enough to have him answer your phone call when you place your order, you can just tell him what price you want (the price off the website) and he will enter it in the computer so its ready to go when you pick the stuff up.
Matsui 06-27-2007, 12:22 PM Yeah there's a mixed bag of people you get to deal with at dealerships - it's seldom that you get lucky
Toddlovesm3s 06-27-2007, 02:27 PM I met a salesman at the bmw dealership near my house. He was a young guy who also drove an e36 m3 so after he showed me his car and we had chatted for a while he said that if I ever needed parts that I could give him a call and he could hook me up with his price. I capitalized on that once but the next time I called him he didn't work there anymore. Go make small talk with the sales people and maybe you will get lucky like i did.
wushucivic 06-27-2007, 02:56 PM i know you said you didn't want to order online to avoid shipping costs but if you order from some of the supporting vendors like pelicanparts.com or autohausaz.com they are usually plenty cheaper than the dealerships. plus they both offer free shipping for parts over a certain cost like $50 or $75.
wingshot 06-28-2007, 11:07 AM And remember that some dealers have different "retail" costs for the same item. Be sure and check a few places.

+1 for both, I've ordered form both on several different occasions. Most parts I order tend to run over $50 anyways, so the only real drawback of ordering online is the 5-7 day wait for the ground shipping to come in.
John V 06-28-2007, 12:45 PM Tischer pulled the same stunt on me regarding their online pricing. I verified on the phone that they would honor the online price for a walk-up and when I got there they attempted a bait-and-switch on me, marking up the parts over 30% in this instance. Enough arguing and holding up the line led to me getting the right price, but I won't go back there again. I can get the parts cheaper and with less hassle online.

I need a roof & rear door trim/molding and most places don't carry it. Pelican is the only place I've found but they have it for more than cost at the dealer.
Speaking of supporting vendors, Tischer has a banner over here with a coupon for 20% off parts. This is worthless because not only the parts department don't know about it, but they don't honor it either. :confused

That's exactly what happened last time I needed parts. I don't feel like going through that again.
