Hey guys -

Let me first mention that other than the Track forum, I haven't been keeping up with the rest of BF.c lately. Almost fell out of my chair when I noticed there's now a dedicated Euro board. This might be better than getting out of jail.

So, I have played around with connecting a Peake FCX to the diagnostic connector (under the hood, of course). It will display what appear to be codes, and I was able to clear them. The problem is not having a list of code definitions. Emailed Peake a long time ago and didn't get anything back. I've also searched BF.c and the Web many times in the past, and haven't been able to find anything helpful. I'm hoping not to hear that the MODIC / GT-1 are the only ways to get diagnostic info out of an S50B32.

BTW - I'm not chasing any specific problem (yet), but I'd like to know if what the FCX displayed were valid codes to decide if I have an issue that merits further investigation.

Thanks,
Mike

I have some interest in that answer because I am in the process of getting a peake tool, Always guessed it was valid code! Maybe create problems like disconnecting MAF and a couple of other things to check the fault code thrown by the peake?

I don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

I'm in the same boat. Got a Peake RC5 and a lot of the time it is guesswork.

I would suggest that we post in this thread when we work stuff out...

I bought a Peake Tool for my 94 Australian M3.
It would only throw a chasing border then ER and 10 alternating.
I also tested it on my son's 94 M3 with the same result.
After about a month of tooing and froing, Peake admitted that maybe their tool did not work on a Euro M3 and refunded my money.
The Euro M3 has a different ECU number than the US M3.

oh crap, so is there a code reading tool for us ?

I asked them once about their tool for my S50B30, but never got a clear answer, so I never bought it :(

No standalone tools but I believe you can find some software on ebay germany (www.ebay.de)

I have a BAUM reader, but have not played with it too much yet.

My understanding from their literature is that it is fully functional for the euro engines, and will retrieve all the codes, and explain them.

I got it on ebay, it came without the BMW adaptor plug, which I did order, and now have. Also, have a volvo and merc set of codes with it, and some OBD-II module.

Their newest products are upgradeable in some fashion over the internet.

It is not cheap, and probably set up for use in an independent shop to justify its cost, but on ebay, it was....well....reasonable...for what I wanted.

I'll try and repost when I play more with it.

Alex.

Again old thread...sue me....

When I was getting my swap car running I was able to make a good guess at what the codes meant. Step one- write down all the codes. Step 2- search across ALL tables to see what makes the most sense.

Latest version of the Peake manual for the R5/FCX-II:

Yes you've guessed it, table 14 for the Euro S50B32 is now included. As far as I can see it checks out fine with my car.

so what about the S50B30 ?

No idea - you could try mailing Peake and asking them.

any clue as to how to fix a "evaporative purge control valve" code on a S50B30 ?

I have been using table 14 (was emailed to me directly from Peake upon request) on my S50B32 and all of the faults it shows have been verified by an Autologic Diagnostic tool.
