Hey guys, just picked up a 93 740iL and I noticed it has a cutoff of sorts much similar to HID lenses. I searched and couldnt find any info on it but does it actually have a shield in there? I am wondering if a prolumens kit would actually look OEM. Anyone have any wall shots of an E32 w/ stock lights and HID-kit (not retrofit)?

well I guess I'll just have to open it up this weekend and see if there's a shield there.. I know there has to be because it looks like I have HID's but without the light output, lol ...oh well I'm ordering the prolumens kit anyways

Your car does not have a "shield" at all. What produces the "cut-off" effect you see is the (curved) projector "ellipsoid" lens. If you retrofit your car with an HID kit you should still maintain the "cut-off" if you orient your HID bulb appropriately in the housing.

Many cars have ellipsoid style headlight lenses without HID lighting. An example would be many newer Japanese cars (Toyota, Honda, Scion).

Best of luck.

Awesome... thank you very much for the info! Just didn't want it looking like a civic with a HID kit
