18x8 fits on the E36. How come that isn't one of the options for a wheel in the list? They have every other BBS wheel except for that one.

View Full Version : How come Tire Rack doesn't list BBS LM's as an option for E36?? dave is cool 02-23-2003, 05:54 AM 18x8 fits on the E36. Griffmeister 02-23-2003, 06:43 PM Pretty sure the BBS LM in 18X8 should fit just fine and I have mo clue why they dont list it as a selection on Tire Rack as only Jim would know.... DOO 02-23-2003, 09:54 PM Tire rack needs more selections too. Same wheels all the time. aceves 02-24-2003, 01:14 AM Originally posted by DOO Tire rack needs more selections too. Word. m3j0n 02-24-2003, 08:22 AM they dont have the RG-Rs on there either... -Jon Jim@tirerack 02-24-2003, 03:35 PM We don't list the LM because it doesn't fit correctly on the car. They are a 18X8 ET32 wheel and they will stick out of the wheel well. If you wanted that fitment we can get the wheel. You would need to modify the fender lip to make it work. If I can help let me know. Thank you ///M3ryder NY 02-25-2003, 06:30 PM Originally posted by Jim@tirerack We don't list the LM because it doesn't fit correctly on the car. A number of people on the boards run that very size and offset. Tire rack is the only place that doesn't seem to think it fits properly. :dunno DSK M3/4 02-25-2003, 06:42 PM i show bbs part # LM098DSPK as an 18x8 LM with et35 fitting all E36 (including M3). ///M3ryder NY 02-25-2003, 06:44 PM Originally posted by DSK M3/4 i show bbs part # LM098DSPK as an 18x8 LM with et35 fitting all E36 (including M3). Giddy up.... :alright Dats what I'm talkin' bout! Jim? :az: ///M3ryder NY 02-25-2003, 10:05 PM Jim? Can we get a response here...? :dunno :az: :95 Khoalty 02-25-2003, 10:45 PM I have BBS LMs on my car 18x8 with a 35mm offset. I believe tirerack doesn't carry this offset b/c they only import the BBS line from germany and that is it. The LM rim that fits on the E36 is made in Japan like the BBS RCJ is. Most forged rims that will fit the E36 are made in Japan and only a certain amount gets imported to the US. But LMs 18x8 will fit the E36 Khoa Josh 02-25-2003, 10:45 PM Roughly 2+ years ago I decided I was going to pick myself up a set of LMs for my E36 M3. At the time, this rim was new to the NA market and most people did not know anything about it. After some pretty intensive research, I discovered BBS had finally released a 'no fender mod' LM fitment for the E36. I began calling around. I tried Tire Rack, the salesman laughed in my ear and told me I must have the rim confused with something else. No surprise there. I finally found someone with knowledge about the products they sell and ordered a set from Eric at SPP out of California. The wheels were drop shipped directly from BBS NA. I fitted them with 235/40-18 Pilot Sports and they fit my car, which is dropped on H&R Race springs like a glove. No fender issues at all. The correct size and offset of this rim is 18 x 8 et 35mm. I am not quite sure where you are getting 32mm as this rim is listed very clearly in BBS's dealer wheel catalog with a 35mm offset and being a 3 series fitment. Also a word about fitment. A 18 x 8 wheel with a 32mm offset will not "stick out of the wheel well". Not even close. 32mm would fit fine in front and in the rear it would require some fender rolling. But since the correct offset of the 5 x 120, 18 x 8 BBS LM is 35mm, this is not an issue. ///M3ryder NY 02-25-2003, 11:28 PM hmmm, two people with 18x8, 35et LMs... So we know they exist....and there ARE definitely companies that sell them. Jim@tirerack 02-26-2003, 04:05 PM Directly from BBS's catalog. They list 18X8 ET32 for the car. Most of the wheels we sell for the car are around 40mm offset. If you are fine with rolling the fender lips or running more negative camber I can get the wheel. Even with the 35mm offset BBS has notes that it may require fender lip roll. By the way we do get the forged wheels from Japan like the RC-J and the RG-R and RS-GT. Let me know if I can help. ///M3ryder NY 02-26-2003, 04:08 PM Originally posted by Jim@tirerack Directly from BBS's catalog. They list 18X8 ET32 for the car. Jim, we already know the 18x8 et35 fits on an e36 perfectly fine....even with the car considerably lower than stock.... (see posts above by Khoa and Josh). Bottom line....can tire rack get the 18x8 et35 LM or not? And if so...what does it entail? thanks! DSK M3/4 02-26-2003, 06:07 PM jim- i'm confused... do you guys carry bbs part # LM098DSPK? what offset do you list for it? would it fit the E36? thanks. DSK, :dunno , I'm getting the feeling this issue isn't high on Jim's list of todo's. Perhaps b/c they don't sell the wheel we all would need....so why bother right? :az: DSK M3/4 02-28-2003, 05:10 PM i was hoping either (a) he could tell me that the part # i gave him is wrong or discontinued or (b) he would find that there was an LM that is made for the E36- maybe his catalog was wrong or something. who knows... |
